An Eye for an Eye…

March 10, 2020 By: El Jefe Category: Bloomberg, Flamethrower

Senate Republicans are whipping up yet another investigation over a fake issue, this time of Hunter Biden.  Risking stating the blatantly obvious, this investigation, like many others, is complete bullshit, and being timed to inflict maximum damage on Joe Biden, who is close to taking the nomination for president.  Elected officials’ kids used to be off limits, but Trump and and National Trump Party have shattered that norm, bringing to bear the full force of the federal government to persecute political rivals and their families.

Enter Mike Bloomberg (again).  Over the weekend on MSNBC, former Bloomberg campaign manager Tim O’Brien announced that if Republicans go after Hunter Biden, Bloomberg will use cash he had set aside for his campaign to go “scorched earth” against the Trump kids, exposing their legion of conflicts, nepotism, and illegal use of federal office to make profits.  The ads will go after profits being made by Trump’s hotels that are charging the Secret Service and foreign officials for stays and hospitality, Ivanka’s Chinese patents, and government paying for all the kids travel for private business.  The entertainment value should be huge, and will drive Trump crazy (er).

Finally someone has the resources to stand up to the Noise Machine in a flame war.  It should be epic.

Bloomberg to Reassess After Disappointing Super Tuesday

Sources are saying that Bloomberg is rethinking his run after his poor showing tonight.  I also expect Warren to finally throw in the towel.  About time.

Biden Already on His Last Legs in Primaries. Is There an Alternative?

February 12, 2020 By: El Jefe Category: 2020 Election, Biden, Bloomberg

Trump and Giuliani are close to succeeding in permanently damaging Joe Biden through their illegal extortion scheme to smear him.  Add that to attacks from the left who support zero chance presidential candidates, and that makes for an almost insurmountable task for Biden to take the nomination.  It’s a shame, and it’s unfair, but Biden has a real problem.  Similar to Hillary’s baggage in 2016, Biden has been saddled with a “scandal” that’s not a scandal at all.  The problem?  It doesn’t matter if it’s true; the damage is done.  If Biden doesn’t bounce back by double digits in Nevada and South Carolina, it’s going to be over.

So, who can beat Trump in November?  It’s clearly none of the top four Dem candidates, and that has been apparent for months.  Trump is a vicious campaigner and slanderer, and I can’t see ANY of the primary leaders with enough fortitude or toughness to top him.  There’s only one out there, and that’s Bloomberg.  An ACTUAL billionaire, Bloomberg has the resources on top of NY toughness.  He’s already hitting Trump where it hurts insulting him about his silly hairdo, heavy makeup, and obesity.  He’s a street fighter, and an objective numbers guy.  He’s already risen to third in the latest Quinnipiac poll and he’s not even on the early states’ ballots.  Bloomberg won’t take any shit off of Trump, AND will attract those he needs to win – independents, moderate Republicans, and suburban women, the same coalition Barack Obama so successfully assembled in 2008 and 2012, and the one the Dems rode to victory in 2018.  It’s a winning combination.  Tom Friedman made the perfect case for Bloomberg in today’s NY Times.  You can read that here.

And before you say it, I know some of you hate me for my opinions on this election and the last.  I’ve been excoriated for those opinions and some of you have even accused me of misogyny and worse because I didn’t support Hillary, Harris, Klobuchar, or Warren.  I’m about winning.  Period.  As I’ve said before, all policies are secondary in this election.  There is one issue and one issue only in 2020 – beating Trump.  I’m not going to waste even one second arguing over healthcare plans, student loans, war fighting, or even climate change.  Those policy questions are important, critical even.  But THIS is not the year for those discussions.  As Friedman noted, another four Trump years will destroy our country.  His corruption is total, and his control over the Senate, the Judiciary, and the DOJ is nothing short of shocking.  Trump must be beaten and beaten badly  to run him out of office.  Bloomberg is our last, best chance if (when) Biden stumbles; the remaining candidates simply are not.  I know you hate that, but it is what it is.

Bloomberg 2020?

November 07, 2019 By: El Jefe Category: Uncategorized

Michael Bloomberg has dispatched staff to file for the Democratic 2020 primary in Alabama.  The deadline is Friday, and it looks like he’s going to keep his options open.  If he jumps in, he’ll turn the field on its head.  He’s been quoted as saying Trump must be beaten in 2020, and him making this move says that he’s not happy with the present field on the Dem side.

IF he jumps in, he’ll Hoover up the business community and mainstream Dems.  The party faithful will hate it,  but you have to admit that he (along with maybe Bill Gates) is the only American who can go toe toe financially.  He’s also actually experienced in running government, unlike His Orangeness.

This little development could make 2020 interesting again.

High Crime

March 07, 2017 By: El Jefe Category: Trump

Noah Feldman, Bloomberg columnist and constitutional law professor at Harvard, published an op-ed yesterday that raised an issue that I hadn’t considered since SCROTUS’s latest Tweet storm; falsely accusing a former president of an impeachable offense is…wait for it…an impeachable offense.  CJ accused President Obama of ordering the FBI to wiretap the campaign offices at Cheeto Tower which is clearly against a whole host of state and federal laws; if true, those crimes would result in criminal prosecution and impeachment.  It’s not true, of course, and Feldman’s argument is that this accusation is not protected under the First Amendment since defamation is not protected.  Additionally, unless evidence is produced supporting this accusation, the consequences cannot by asymmetrical; that is, a false accusation of an impeachable offense is in itself cause for impeachment of the accuser.

Now, I’m not stupid enough to believe that Congress, dominated by drooling Neanderthals and idiots, will do anything approaching an impeachment proceeding, but it’s just one more thing to add to the list of offenses that grows daily.
