Surprise Surprise

January 28, 2016 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

I was shocked, shocked I tell you, that the funds Donald Trump is raising for veterans tonight go directly to the Donald J. Trump foundation, which – best I can tell – is not headed by a veteran except, of course, the brutal Fox News Megan Kelly Wars where Trump was the bearer of the white flag.

And, apparently, Trump used a stock photo of a not-soldier.

That’s Donnie; out to prove his conservative bonafides. Nothing like abusing veterans to prove he is a conservative. Look out establishment snacilbupeR candidates, he’s driving in your lane now.

Maybe same model but not same photo. I frankly don’t care.

This charade has been in the works for weeks. DTs reasons for bolting the debate are pure BS. No one throws together a TV “event” at the last minute. The only thing done at the last minute was choosing (using?) the vets. It’s all theater in the worst of taste which is par for the course for the Donald.

“Gawww-lee”!! Is it wrong that I am channeling Gomer Pyle??

  5. Old Mayfly says:

What’s that thing about history repeating itself–first as tragedy and then as farce? W. was the tragedy. And it looks like Trump is farce.

  6. Even if he does give some money to veterans charities, it doesn’t mean much. Last September he appeared with a “charity group” that consisted of one guy. Wounded Warriors is under scrutiny because they do very little for veterans, most of the money goes to “overhead”.

  7. Larry from Colorado says:

Can the guy at Dairy Queen dig up the financials on the T-rump foundation to see if the Vets get anything?

Here is the Donald J. Trump Foundation’s filings for CY 2013. Contributions are going all over the place — mostly to what seem like worthy causes, but no obvious theme or focus. Veteran-related donations that year (begins p. 15):

Friends of Veterans, Inc, Vermont, $1,000
Marine Corps Law Enforcement Fdn, New York, $5,000
Special Operations Warrior Fdn, Florida, $5,000

Compare that to $50,000 to the American Conservative Union Fdn, and $10,000 to The Family Leader, a far-right Christianist political advocacy group in Iowa.

  9. Sigh. As a family we used to give an occasional contribution to what we thought we good causes – including the local PTA – but no longer. When one after another of these good causes turned out to be not so good, we just damn quit. There are ads for contributions to help the people of Flint in Michigan. Be careful if you are so inclined to do so! Also, money is promised by state and federal government. Do yourselves a favor. After that $$ arrives, see who in local and state government suddenly takes a very, very expensive vacation. Know what I mean?

    9
  10. He is filed as a rePukeian, and has shown himself to be a royal ahole!! When he says anything! why do you believe? Well except when it is bigoted and hate filled, then is most likely true.

  11. Marcia in CO says:

There are veteran organizations that say they will refuse any Trump the Stump money … they don’t want any part of his so-called fund raising event for vets because he is using the vets as a phony front for his need to blow hot air!!

    I say: Hooray for them!!

All you have to do is look to the Republicans as to the why and wherefore they aren’t getting the funding they need!!

  12. Polite Kool Marxist says:

T-Dump is what he is. He had his own Dubya moment aboard an aircraft carrier, when he supported a veteran fraud of one.

What is also disgusting are the efforts by Gnarly Failurina and Ted Cr-Oozer to both ride the rump’s coat tails and climb on the backs of veterans. Those two need to write checks yesterday and not worry about the ink being dry. No debates as your prize, just write the checks.

What might have gone unnoticed in all the snacilbupeR drama last night was the Cr-oozer doubling down on his st00pid. As most of you know “carpet bombing” is both ineffective and illegal. But this dumb fool of a Sinator known for his ability to offend anyone in the room really crawled up the wrong path to the JCS, when he confused carpet bombing with sortie surges. Airstrike 101 to which the Sinator has been privy to in so many briefings, yet he pulls that ch!t? He wants to be CIC? Not happening. Expect a few of the Generals who still command respect to step out and speak.

Wounded Warrior Project is under fire from vets who say they are being used to help raise funds and get very little assistance and no follow up help. Hate to say it but if it sounds to good to be true,it prolly is.

    13
  14. First the photo of the Moroccans storming “our border,” then the one showing Russian vets with their hammer and sickle medals. Now some dude in camouflage instead of a real U.S. veteran. I could do a better job of creating ads, and I’m a 68 year-old grandma.

and in other late breaking news, water is wet & the sky is blue! video at 11!

    15
  16. And just how did you think Trump and his ilk became so rich?

    16
  17. maggie, please don’t quit giving because you can’t find a good charity. You can check them out at

    http://give.org (Better Business Bureau)

    or

    http://www.charitynavigator.org

They keep track of who gets how much and whether the contributions are being well-managed.

    17
  18. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Rhea, those are two good suggestions, thanks. I bookmarked them for handy reference. Giving locally is always a good option, especially if you are within travel distance of a VA Hospital. For those who are feeling the added bite of a political campaign year, donating your books and time having a cup of coffee with veterans, families and friends is always appreciated.

    18
  19. I always go to Charity Navigator for ratings when I have donations in mind. Right now, if I had any cash to spare, I’d buy ZeroWater filters for the residents of Flint (the company is matching donations and covering the shipping): https://help-flint-mi.zerowater.com/thanks/

  20. NicaBrian says:

You’re mistaken. Sir Donald the Fabulous is indeed a military veteran- well, a military school veteran, but he says it was even more realistic than the actual military and he learned more than those loser soldiers who only went to the Afghanistan school. And the hangovers he got from that raisin jack he brewed in his room was every bit as disabling as a WMD going off under an unshielded Humvee.

Which is why all funds legitimately go to the Donald J.Trump Is So A Disabled Vet Foundation.

    20
  21. I know for a fact that St Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee takes care of kids and their helps the families with transportation, food and lodging. They also have top doctors doing research. How do I know, my oldest son had a brain tumor, and after contacting many facilities around the country, St Jude’s called me back within three days and we were soon on our way for treatment. I lived in a hotel for a year while he was in the hospital. They keep improving as time goes along. Long story, but I am confident you can trust them.

Not to mention the PTSD that poor Donnie incurred on the apocalyptic day that the chow hall ran out of chocolate pudding.

Since I no longer follow country music, I was checking for info on Trace Adkins, the spokesman and singer on the Wounded Warrior ads. Turns out he’s a country singer in the classic cheatin’ boozin’ brawlin’ mode, best known for that towering classic, “Honky-Tonk Badonkadonk”.

He also appeared on a few seasons of Celebrity Apprentice, and is active in a few Republican organizations.

Where is the money going? Betcha we can guess.

    24
  25. Lunargent says:

I really feel sorry for anybody who gets involved with any of Trump’s events, charitable or otherwise. They’re not really people to him, just useful props to further elevate him.

    25
  26. e platypus onion says:

Last I heard of Adkins,he was in rehab for drinking and fighting. Vets are firing back at Trump and his ways. I suppose he will just throw them under the bus like he does everyone else.
