Slash and Burn at Balmedie

Balmedie, Scotland

Balmedie is a small seaside town just north of Aberdeen Scotland.  I played golf nearby years ago at the Royal Aberdeen Golf Club, just north of the city of Aberdeen, and love this little part of the world.  In Balmedie, Cheeto Jesus built the Cheeto International Golf Links on the coast after the First Minister of Scotland, Alex Salmond, overruled local officials and allowed development to begin in 2008.  Cheeto promised $1.25 billion in investment including the golf course, a 450 room hotel, and 950 time share condos.  He ended up only spending $50 million (his people say $125 million), and the project actually lost over $1 million last year.  His grand hotel? He bought a nearby manor house and converted it to a 16 room in.  Officials now admit that Balmedie only got 10 cents on the dollar of economic benefit that was promised.

That’s not the worst of it, though.  The worst of it was his treatment of landowners around his development who refused to knuckle under.  Those landowners were assaulted with 15 foot earthen walls and double rows of trees intentionally installed to block their views of the course and seaside.  AND, of course, he sent them the bill.

If anyone still wondered what kind of president this clown will make only need look as far as his behavior in Balmedie.  He used the same slash and burn tactics, childish name calling, and bait-and-switch tactics that he used in the presidential election.  It’s a disaster for Balmedie, and will most certainly be a disaster for the United States.

Be social and share!

After their encounter with Donald Trump, the First Minister of Scotland and the good folk of Balmedie are no doubt a good deal sadder, but wiser. They’re about to have a lot of company.

  2. You got to admit, Don the con. Is the best at running a game.
    Any one has ever seen.!

Yessss.. but y’know what they say… once bitten…

So, Donnie was all in a snit about Scotland building a wind farm off the coast “ruining the view” from his links. He screamed and railed. The Scots are building it anyway. Don’t bite the hand that feeds, Donnie! Bwahahaha….m

Has anyone ever come away from a business deal or a handshake with Donnie and had all of their fingers intact?

  5. @pkm

Something about your comment made me think of the great Herb Tarlek, actor Frank Bonner, from WKRP in Cincinnati. The president-elect IS slimey Herb Tarlek from that teevee show.

  6. A good movie to watch on that mess is “You’ve been Trumped”.

    @PKM:

I don’t think so, but the Russians and the Chinese are hoping. . .

  8. Not only did Donnie fight against the offshore wind farm, he’s now building a seawall against rising sea levels. And now he thinks maybe there’s something to this climate change science stuff after all….

I loved it when he went to Scotland and said how much he liked the Brexit vote, ignorant of the fact that the Scots had voted heavily against it. Scots are good at swearing at people.

    8
  9. I’ve seen pictures of the high berm he created around the life long home of an elderly couple which was shocking. And he had the balls to bill them for it?! He couldn’t collect,on such a ridiculous bill so it was just pure harrassment.

    9
  10. Rhea, he’ll only care about climate change as long as it affects his bottom line. Which, come to think of it, is all about he cares about anything, including our country. I refuse to call it “our nation” as long as he is in office (not the White House; that’s beneath his dignity). I’m mostly just hoping his ties with Putin are not so close that we’ll soon be living in Trumpistan, anyway. I just don’t get what part of “hateful, corrupt, pathological liar” those voters didn’t understand.

    10
  11. The Trump believers will note that Scotland is far away and like Las Vegas, whatever happens there stays there. Now that is just dumb. We live i a GLOBAL economy. They were scammed the moment they voted for Trump and frankly, they asked for it. So when the screeching, sobbing and whining reaches a certain pitch they should not be amazed that other people stick their fingers in the old earholes and chant, LA LA LA LA LA LA LA.

    11
  12. If it’s good for Trump Enterprises it’s good for America. Don’t ya know or don’t ya?

    12
  13. Yeah, he’s become Don Trumpote, tilting at windmills.

Because “they kill all the birds”. And “they’re not made in America”. Both huge overstatements based on a small bit of truth. Oh, and my favorite: “The wind doesn’t blow all the time”. Nope. But those huge wind turbines are engineered and placed to take advantage of the prevailing winds at the sites where they’re installed.

Leaving out “They ruin the ocean view for me and the entitled guests at my Scotland golf course”. Also “They do nothing to contribute to the obscene profits of the oil companies “.

Could it be that even Scots shiver when you say “Aberbeen” has something to do with failure here. Is there 6 weeks of bearable weather to play golf?

    14
  15. The response of the Scottish people on Twitter is where I got my name for him – Cheetoh-faced Ferret-wearing Shitgibbon Cocksplat. I think is fair to say they don’t really care for him.

    15
  16. Anomalous Propagation says:

OleBaldy Shitgibbon was his name before he was birthed by a former Scots woman.
Let’s consider: she KNEW what sort of offspring his father spawned. She made him make it worth her time & effort.

  17. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Paperwork has surfaced that Frederick the Drumpf requested return to Germany, after immigrating to the US. Maybe he was prescient about the load the Drumpf family would be dropping on us in the form of Donnie.

Maybe someone at State can arrange a deal with Scotland along the lines of the Scots gain all rights to his golf course in exchange for using Donnie as fertilizer.

    17
  18. PKM, Germany wouldn’t let Grandpa Drumpf back in because he was an illegal emigrant and a draft-dodger (and a brothel-keeper). The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

  19. The Scots certainly know who Trump is. I am just hoping that we Americans will show that we know who Trump is.

  21. @Micr, regarding WKRP

I loved the time Herb tried to chat up Jennifer (Loni Anderson): “You only go around once in life, you’ve got to grab a little gusto while you can.” To which Jennifer replied, “I prefer a big gusto, Herb.” Fitting for Trump somehow.

    21
  22. Rhea: weasel headed fucknugget(sorry mama) is my personal favorite.

    22
  23. Rhea @18, That’s an interesting article about good ol’ (draftdodging) Granddad Trump, who seems to be almost as big a weasel as Donnie Dollar$; rotten fruit under the family tree indeed.

How long before we’re all expected to address Prez DJT (churk) as groveling Granddad T once did to German Prince Luitpold: “(Our) the much-loved, noble, wise and righteous sovereign and sublime ruler”?
Granddad T was summarily booted out of Bavaria (with his new wife), he was given eight weeks to vamoose back to Amerika, all his groveling for nought.
Now excuuuse me while I barf (again).
And don’t even think of those special snowflake ‘Princelings-in-waiting’ conniving for succession.

“In an effort to overturn the royal (expulsion) decree dated 27 February 1905, (Granddad) Trump wrote an obsequious letter appealing to Prince Regent Luitpold, addressing him as “the much-loved, noble, wise and righteous sovereign and sublime ruler”.”
    .
“A historian has discovered a royal decree issued to Donald Trump’s grandfather ordering him to leave Germany and never come back.

Friedrich Trump, a German, was issued with the document in February 1905, and ordered to leave the kingdom of Bavaria within eight weeks as punishment for having failed to do mandatory military service and failing to give authorities notice of his departure to the US when he first emigrated in 1885.”

  24. This is just more junk under the troll bridge. I think the article comparing us to Italy was the best thing I’ve heard in awhile. His voters simply don’t care about any of this stuff. When you think about it, it really does make sense. After all the awful things he’s done and said before now, if you are supporting him then why would any of this matter? Italy ousted their embarrassment by focusing on the issues. Focus on the fact that the coal jobs and many of the other jobs aren’t coming back. Focus on the fact that we won’t be one lick safer or that terrorism will be any less of a threat. Focus on the fact that we will have fewer rights and somehow won’t be any better off. Focus on the fact that the inner cities will still be a yuge disaster and that the so-called law and order candidate won’t see an improvement on the crime rate despite using stop and frisk. There will be plenty of real stuff to focus on.

    24
  25. Sandridge –
So when Donnie dodged the draft, he was just upholding family tradition, I guess.

I don’t think this creature even has human blood coursing through his veins – I’m pretty sure that it’s sewer sludge.

    25
  26. Hubby and I went on vacation in Scotland in August. Great trip, great weather (except for a couple of days), and no one asked us about Herr Drumpf (though I would have gladly shared my disdain). While driving out near the western coast we crossed paths with several reeeeaaaaallllyyy long flatbed trucks that were carrying wind turbine blades (one each). Not sure where they were going or coming from. If you’ve ever been in Scotland you know the roads are narrow with no shoulders, plus driving on the left is tricky, and this part of the road was a bit curvy. Hubby had to drive the car up onto the sidewalk (thank goodness that was there rather than the usual ditch) to get out of the way. An interesting contrast of modern technology vs all the “old stuff” (castles, churches) we saw.

    26
  27. Ahh this is bad.

I almost feel like waiting for the other shoe to drop.

The sun is shining and my neighbours are still immigrant, Gay, or Jewish. I guess I just need to rest up for the next round of being outraged…

  28. There is one helluva wind farm on the Canadian coastline near Nova Scotia et al. Canada is determined to be off fossil stuff ASAP. Know someone who lived near one of the maritime wind farms and is now living locally because of his job. He can’t wait to get back to Canada. The wind farms do not kill all the birds. Even birds are smart enough to change course!

    28
  29. Linda Phipps says:

Maggie, so Canada wants to be off “fossil stuff”. Is that why they want to ship it out via North Dakota. Mighty neighborly, eh?
