Senfronia Thompson

May 22, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Senfronia Thompson is the single best argument against term limits.  She was first elected to the Texas House of Representative in 1972 and continues to this day to be the clearest voice in Texas for the underdog.  She is the voice of the voiceless and the power of the powerless.  I love her.

Today, she took to the floor of the House to shame those suckers.

As she spoke thunder literally rolled!

“Bathrooms used to separate us!! Colored for some and White for others and those days should not return to our Nation.

If you question a transgender child then yes you question God’s creation.”

Chairwoman Senfronia Thompson of Houston.

She is a genuine Texas hero.

I’d never heard of Senfronia Thompson before. Doesn’t matter. I love her.

    You go, girl!

  3. What a statesperson! They’re a rare breed these days. Please alert us to legislators like her. We need to keep up our morale. What a unique name (and a welcome one) to add to the anti-scoundrel list.

  4. Barbara Jordan would say You go, woman!

Well, she’d say it more elegantly, but that’s what she’d mean.

Wow! I love that Lady and I do mean Lady. She puts the Texas asshats to shame.

  7. There is nothing so wise, moral, persuasive and authoritative as the voice of a sage female elder. One of the most wonderful I’ve ever known was Zona Fills the Pipe, Oglala Lakota from the Pine Ridge Reservation. She’s one of my heroes. Now it sounds like I should add Rep. Thompson.

Let’s add, Tip O’Neal, Lloyd Benson, Tom Foley – and to be bi-partisan – Sherm Cooper [first out against war in ‘Nam] & Everett Dierksen [who moved racial equity measures in the Senate] as beacons of piety and propriety in governance.

My other favorite Texan ( there are not many ) would be Ann Richards, she could certainly let you know what is what and still remain lady like!

Thank you, J.J., for alerting us to this nugget of gold amidst the Republican chaff which controls Texas. She is extraordinary.

If she was first elected in 1972, she must have been a baby!
