A lot of what I post here has to do with local politics, but you probably have the same folks in your local government.

Scarily correct, that. Bolton never met a war he didn’t like. He’s convinced that the US needs to be King of the Hill, by any means necessary. I hope he doesn’t convince Donnie.

2Funny how a *lack* of direct war experience seems to be such a major *incentive* to committing bodies to battle.
It should be a requirement that one must go through a boot camp to get the “leaders” directly integrated with those to be committed to harms way. That is why people with that experience understand that war is the last, worst, option. OTOH, when done it must be explicitly focused for a discrete objective. Again, if one understands what is risked, one is more likely to be certain of committing resources required to accomplish the end result.

It speaks very poorly of us as a nation that we question the affordability of benefits to take care of the least of us, but never discuss a war in terms of affordability.
4I read some rumblings that Johnny Warhawk may not be able to get a security clearance. If true that would be delicious.
5In this administration, lack of a security clearance doesn’t seem to slow anyone down.

8Old Fart, I read a while back that during WWII the Brits least supportive of bombing German cities were the ones being bombed themselves. (Can’t remember the percentages– maybe still a lot supported bombing, but fewer than those not being bombed.)

How I know this is that my very extreme RWNJ bro worshiped John Bolton way back in the early 2000’s, even more so than CheneyBoosh, Rumsfeld, etc., he was positively rapturous over ‘Stache-man.
I suspect that bro (a raving teabagger before they existed) was also enamored of Trump back then too, he spoke of how ‘certain rich people’ should ‘run things’ and that they were ‘different’ than the rest of us; I had no idea who Trump was at the time nor who he might have been referring to then (we ceased communicating long before Trump came along politically).
If bro is still alive, I imagine that he’s in a constant state of RWNJ ecstasy now, even as T&Lyin’ Ryan&McTurtle gut out his own social safety net-SS&Medicare (and yes, he owns an AR-15 and much more– completely 4F during VN, and was a petty criminal back then, who avoided mil service like the plague, has been a chickenhawk RWNJ ever since).
Curiously, ~2008, bro made a long trip to Russia and toured the country from one side to the other for a few weeks with some of his RWNJ buddies. They unknowingly (really, had not a clue) acquired some very friendly ‘retired’ Russian military ‘friends’ as they continued on. These new ‘friends’ (from the GRU or whatever) were most helpful and attentive with the touring fools (IYKWIM).
For some damned reason bro was very impressed with Russia, the way Putin ran it, etc., idolized Putin and wished we had someone like that, WTF?, (during the Obama admin especially).
Of course, these RWNJ’s are all “Authoritarian” fans, ready to slavishly follow whoever appears to be the “bees knees” in dictatoring.
In our current case, Comrade Donnei Bonespurs, no matter how corrupt and incompetent. They believe that even someone as ignorant as Trumpov will magically select “the best people”.
We are doomed, unless Comrade Trump is brought down, one way or another.

There is Ecstasy Level drug like giddiness in the evangelical demographics having Bolton re-enter the sphere in tandem with Apocalyptic bible thumper Pompeo heading to the CIA….the anticipated war in the middle east they hope these villains will instigate goes to their end goal: the mass slaughter of Jews in Israel so Jesus can be rebooted and smite those of us who don’t tithe in their brass plates.
Trump’s giddiness is based upon his fantasies to fire nukes because of his childhood admiration for his nuclear scientist uncle’s glorifying a big kaboom where people become fused to things or turn into ashen sculptures. Anyone who will enable his fantasy is how he’s going chose “the best people.”
Trump said his greatest pleasure is taking revenge upon those who betrayed him….it is not lost on many that he considers anyone who didn’t vote for him or nations who don’t bow to him….as a betrayal.

Rachel Maddow reported on Friday night that Bolton is also implicated in funneling Russian money to the NRA which of course ended up in the Dump campaign. There was a tape of Bolton speaking to a Russian gun rights group with Russian subtitles and proof that he attended an NRA fund raiser with Russians. Add to that the implications of conspiring with Cambridge Analytica while running a political PAC raising funds for Rethugs and Bolton may not make it to the situation room.

The amount of damage to our nation (and the world) these assholes can do is incalculable. The rest of the world knows it too, and the chances of some of them (China?) someday making a preemptive strike to eliminate the threat increases weekly.
22Bolton’s appointment does seem to be a fait accompli, but sooner rather than later, Mueller may bring additional indictments which might include Comrade Bollocks. It seems that when these snakes come slithering out from under their rocks, all sorts of grotesqueries come to light.
