Poor University of Texas

September 18, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Y’all, this is semi-sad news.

Blake Farenthold, south Texas congressvarmint, made and announcement this weekend.

During an interview with a Corpus Christi radio station on Friday, Rep. Blake Farenthold (R-TX) vowed to personally boycott the University of Texas at Austin until the school reinstalls the Confederate statues it took down last month.

Well, that’s only fair – the University of Texas has been boycotting Blake for decades.

Thanks to Charles for the heads up.

  1. Conjures memories of Bluto Blutarsky.

  2. How did we get so lucky in Austin?

    2
  3. Morning JJ.
I call that a win win situation. As more monuments to traitors come down, ducky boy’s choice of locations to stink up steadily disappear.

    3
  4. How on earth does one boycott a university? By not going to its campus? By that silly definition I have “personally boycotted” pretty much every University in the world except Texas, A&M, SMU, UNT, and ETSU. I’ve never set foot on, for example, the TCU campus. Or LSU. Or UT Pan Am. and on and on. Jammy Boy’s comment is such a … stoopid POS.

    4
  5. well, there u go! apparently he’s been boycotting me’n’mine for many years ‘n we haven’t missed him a bit!

    5
  6. Well, obviously ducky boy hasn’t a damn thing of import to say or do so he ends up throwing in the clutch on his mouth before revving up his brain! What a waste of DNA!

    6
  7. How does someone so devoid of any self awareness con people into voting him into office? That mystery will trouble me to my grave.

    7
  8. Egads! Whatever will they do? How can they ever expect to achieve true academic greatness while he boycotts them?

    Oh, the horror, the horror…

  9. Meanwhile, Blake (PajamaBoy) Farenthold’s own TX-27 district constituents* have been getting PO’ed that Blakeyboy has been mostly MIA in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and the massive destruction it left behind in the Coastal Bend (the old, pre-gerrymander, center of TX-27). Guess he’s boycotting them too.

dbtexas, Farenthold is a certified Rethug Teabagger, the raving ‘patriot’ Anglo’s in TX-27 will vote for a frozen bait mullet before they’ll vote for a Dem. And they always vote…in every election, unlike you know who.
Meanwhile, the Democrats there have trouble even getting out to vote, seems to be too much bother. Especially for the Hispanic cohort, the 27th District used to be hugely minority-majority one. After Blake walked away with his first, 900 vote, win in 27 due to Democratic apathy, and then the R’s in Austin gerrymandered it to lock in PJBoy, not so much now. It should still be a flippable seat.

    * It’s amazing to see these teabaggin’ RWNJ’s, who have raved about the evils of ‘gubbermint’ for years (this includes all office holders), scrambling to get on the gubbermint teats after Harvey. The local elected officials are injecting an awful lot of that good ol’ xtian religious claptrap bullchit (their brands) into the whole mess too, which really chaps my ass.

  10. Is he going to lead a picket line of his supporters all dressed in ducky pajamas? I hope so, because I’m enjoying the mind picture.

  11. Farenthold will get no sympathy from Fredericksburg and Gillespie county. They voted overwhelmingly not to join the Confederacy and wished to stay in the Union. I recommend he read about the Battle of the Nueces here:

His face looks like he farts and holds it. Fartandhold fits somehow.

    12
  13. He has no sense of shame or taste.
    Either in statues or pajamas!

    13
  14. Want to keep him away? Move that life-size statue of Barbara Jordan onto one of those empty plinths. Two birds with one stone!

    14
  15. JAKvirginia says:

epo! Fartandhold is perfect! Good one!

I say put the statues back… with one small change. Ducky pajamas on each one.

    15
  16. Blake, go back under your rock. It’s way too soon for the annual Mothers Day challenge.

    16
  17. As a dyed in the wool Aggie, I applaud TU this time. (Don’t let this become a habit, Paul)

    17
  18. By “personally boycott,” does he mean that he’s going to apply for admission and then turn them down if he’s accepted? As if.

    18
  19. Y’all have said such good snark about DuckyBoy that there’s hardly room for me to put the boot in while he’s down. But if I were UT Austin, I might find a few more statues to haul down just to keep him far away. Or better yet: “Fahrentwho now?”

Love the Barbara Jordan suggestion! Can we get a statue of Ann Richards for another plinth?

    19
  20. Old Quaker (Colorado) says:

    …and Molly Ivins for a trifecta….

    20
  21. But Blake has such a sweet smile, bless his heart. What’s he gonna do if it rains? Isn’t he from the Rockport area? I heard they didn’t have anything left to dry out. I wonder if his jammies blew away….

    21
  22. That Other Jean says:

Hey, that’s a win-win for Austin! No more Confederate statues and no more Blake Farenthold. What’s not to like?

I agree–a statue of Barbara Jordan should definitely occupy one of the empty plinths. For the others, Texas has enough outstanding women in her history to fill them.

    22
  23. TexasTrailerParkTrash,
So sorry, TTPT, but the good German Freethinker burghers of Fredericksburg and Gillespie county have completely forgotten their noble heritage and are as happy as swine in a pig toilet (look it up on Wiki, urk…).

They voted almost 80% for tRump, 5 to 1, in 2016; more than that for anti-science, anti-rationality, pro-Exxon, slimeball Lamar Smith. And they’ve been voting for the Rethugs for decades.
    You cain’t fix stupid…
