Of Course They Do

June 24, 2016 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

You knew this was coming, right?

Okay, since Britain screwed  up their country with Bexit, can Texas be far behind?

Oh hell no.

After residents of the UK voted today to leave the European Union, the movement for an independent Texas may be gaining serious momentum, with thousands online calling for a “Texit.”

The largest group agitating for secession is the Texas Nationalist Movement, which has been promoting its own version of Brexit, called Texit, over the past several weeks. The group has taken inspiration from the pro-exit campaign in Britain, noting that the two movements share many of the same principles.

How about a GoToHellit?

Serious, they are perfectly serious.  Who do they think would stop it?  Nobody likes Texas.  The Bushes and the Gohmerts and the Dan Patricks and The Dallas Cowboys fixed all that.

Look, I am perfectly okay with letting them Texit.  I just wonder where they’re going when they leave and maybe I could get their social security check.

Thanks to Brian for the heads up.

Be social and share!

  1. Yeah, because the Brexit vote went so well.

“Even though I voted to leave, this morning I woke up and I just — the reality did actually hit me,” one woman told the news channel ITV News. “If I’d had the opportunity to vote again, it would be to stay.”

That confusion over what Brexit might mean for the country’s economy appears to have been reflected across the United Kingdom on Thursday. Google reported sharp upticks in searches not only related to the ballot measure but also about basic questions concerning the implications of the vote. At about 1 a.m. Eastern time, about eight hours after the polls closed, Google reported that searches for “what happens if we leave the EU” had more than tripled.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-switch/wp/2016/06/24/the-british-are-frantically-googling-what-the-eu-is-hours-after-voting-to-leave-it/

“Oy, mate– what the frack did we just do…?”

  2. There’s a piece on crooks and liars that says one of the main Brexit proponents claimed that one of the main promises used as a selling point wasn’t true. Sounds like he’s even trying to deny making the claim. Which is interesting. They put it really big on the side of their bus that toured all over England. So I guess the difference between them and someone like Rick Perry (who advocated secession at least once) is that those guys will at least hint at one of their claims being wrong.

    2
  3. Oh and by the way, the claim? Using funds now being paid to the EU to instead go to their health care system. Who could ever have imagined health care funding could be so divisive?

  4. Aggieland Liz says:

Um, yeah. The time to get informed is before you vote. Oh well, I guess mouth breathing white Amer’cun south’ners aren’t the only tribal morons on the planet after all.

  5. Douglas H says:

I was thinking about this “Texit” idea this morning. Just as with Scotland and Northern Ireland already making noise about leaving the UK, if there is “Texit” movement we (meaning the only adults in the room) should create and start pushing a parallel effort for the Metroplex, the People’s Republic of Travis County and “We’re about to make Chicago number four” to all become city/states and leave Texas. We’ll even invite San Antonio to join us. And, El Paso if they want to.

  6. Marcia in CO says:

I love this: How about a GoToHellit?

They have the same problem we have here … a headlong rush to vote without knowing what the hell they are voting for! Now, folks are wishing they had understood just what the EU offered them and what they are looking forward to not having because they voted without knowing the facts!

And Cameron saying fergidaboutit … I’m outta here!!

    6
  7. Corinne Sabo says:

Did the Rs who voted to suceede also pledge NOT to accept help from FEMA for the flooding?

    7
  8. Texit?
I have a few words more designer words the Texas Nationalist Movement might consider:

    Stupit
    Idioit

    8
  9. We are FROM Texas (now in another state) and are all for Texas seceding. Just think- that would mean Cruz would no longer be in the Senate!

    10
  11. Then can Houston secede from Texas?

    11
  12. Rastybob says:

How about we move Fort Hood and all the jobs that go with it to NM. No FEMA just tax rich Texans. That should do it.

    12
  13. Karen Byrd says:

Let’s count the losses Texas would experience. Military installations – gone. Military supply contracts – gone. Medicare and Medicaid – gone. Postal service – gone. Emergency relief, which Texas governors scream for every time somebody spits on the sidewalk – gone. Educational funds – gone. Border control – gone. Snowbirds and their money – gone. Me – gone. And that’s just a fraction of the repercussions.

  14. JAKvirginia says:

You all want to leave? Why aren’t you gone? You should have left by now. You’ve been threatening to do it for years. Be strong. Just pack your bags and git. And remember, don’t let the front door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya! Buh bye, now.

I said, buh bye. Now git!

    14
  15. And then there was Trump pontificating on a golf course in Scotland, a country that had voted damn near unanimously NOT to Brexit on how the vote in England was a good thing. Of course, the comedian who rolled golf balls painted with swasttikas across the grass in front of Trump’s lectern should have given Trump a hint, but no, I don’t think he actually recognized what was painted on the balls! As for his golf course, its tottering on extinction anyway. And the Scots will definitely remember what he said and he should really be worried. They are Karma in plaid.

  16. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Somalia is nice this time of year. Maybe pRick Perry or Randy Neugebauer will offer a boat and companionship for their trip. Sean Hannity likes riding boats; maybe he’ll ride shot gun on their trip. Heck, with all their gun and bravado, let them swim to Somalia.

    16
  17. Nah! Texas can’t leave because Oklahoma sucks

    17
  18. JAKvirginia says:

Maggie? Did you hear that the Donnie referred to his heritage as (snicker) “Scotch”? Ever see a whole country do an eyeroll then wince? Bugger off, ye Dumpf!

  19. Mah Fellow Murkuhn says:

A war has already been fought over this. Texas (and the rest of the CSA) lost. Get over it already.

    19
  20. Don A in Pennsyltucky says:

Like Cornwall, we could expect Texas to wonder who will supply the funding that comes from the organization they just voted to leave.

    20
  21. Damn. I’m stuck in Texas because my job moved here. I would rather be somewhere else, but they pay me too well to stay here. I haven’t had one of these ‘Texit’ mouthbreathers spout their nonsense to me yet, but I’m loaded for bear and ready for their idiocy.

    21
  22. My husband sent me something delightful he’d found on social media. First Trump tweeted, “Just arrived in Scotland. Place is going wild over the vote. They took their country back, just like we will take our country back.”

Then some Scots responded. I’ll have to do a lot of cleaning up, because these are sweary people.

“Scotland voted remain, you incompressible j***trumpet”

“We voted 62% to Remain, you ignorant f***muppet. We’re ****ing furious at the result!”

“Scotland voted to stay, you witless ****ing c***splat!”

“Scotland voted to stay and plan on a second referendum [about splitting from England], you tiny fingered, Cheeto-faced, ferret-wearing s***gibbon.”

A lot of Scots loathe Trump anyway because of the arrogant way he shoved his golf course development through, but he thinks they love him. Ignorant f***muppet.

    22
  23. So let’s think a moment about this. If Texas “exits”, then maybe parts of Old Texas could (re)unite with Mexico and petition the United States to enter the Union as a new state. Really east Texas is more like Dixie mentally and emotionally. Just as south Texas is much closer to Mexico physically as well as emotionally than to say Memphis or New Orleans or Atlanta. BTW, that new State, I want it named Tex-Mex. Just saying,

    23
  24. WA Skeptic says:

“Texit” wouldn’t ever get off the ground. When the CSA was whipped in 1864, the USA forced them to sign a pledge that they would never again secede.

Of course, that was a long time ago….

    24
  25. Feel free to Get The Hell Out!

    25
  26. Rhea, thanks for sharing that!

    26
  27. Larry from Colorado says:

When I heard the news of Brexit this morning, my first thought was, bet Texas tries next. (Snow isn’t too bad in Colorado.)

    27
  28. Oh, Rhea, thanks so much for f***muppet!

I have Scots up the family tree…your post makes me proud of my heritage!

    28
  29. Texas only gets to leave if they agree to take Trump with them.

    29
  30. Anybody want to buy a house and 5 ac. in Bastrop?

    30
  31. People in Scotland on property adjacent to Drumpf’s golf course planted a f***ton of Mexican flags. Good on ’em.

    31
  32. DetroitSam says:

I wonder why the leave movement hasn’t figured out that all of the federal institutions would not belong to Texas.

Do they thing that their senators and representatives would still be a part of the U.S. Congress?

I wish that someone who knows these id’jits would report what these secessionist think. That is if they think.

    32
  33. The reason that Texas begged to join the US was the US Calvary, they needed it to fight the Indians. My grandfather had a story about how he and other boys were collecting wood when Indians showed up and chased they all the way to San Antonio,

    33
  34. Okie-Dokie says:

A hundred and fifty years ago a group of secessionists were defeated at Appomattox. Other than my job not much is keeping me in Texas. Texas leave the United States? My federal employer would probably just lay us off. Time to retire early to the Philippines. President elect Duterte? Pay your taxes and don’t mess with drugs.

    34
  35. Heard this drifting around in the wind . . . if TX were to secede, the federal laws that would put Perry et al. in jail would no longer cover them. Wow! No wonder they keep ginning up this idea!

    35
  36. Before Texas votes for a divorce, let’s do a trial separation effective immediately and lasting a minimum of two years. That means the federal government will stop supporting Texas, withdraw all the money and services provided including USPS, social security, medicare, border patrol and all government contracts. No slow exit over several years BS. Let them feel the full impact of their stupidity immediately.

    36
  37. maryelle says:

The mouth breathers would cut off their nose to spite their face.
But Texas has already started the secession process in defying decisions by the Supreme Court, Congress and Presidential executive order, most notably abortion rights, Medicaid expansion and separation of church and state. When will the federal government hold them accountable by denying federal funds?

    37
  38. Sharon Camfield says:

And we couldn’t get money from FEMA when Houston floods, or tornadoes rip through or hurricanes destroys part of the Gulf Coast or fires burn anywhere…..
I have noticed that the “Go to work, sue Obama, go home Governor is pretty fast at asking for help from FEMA when we have a natural disaster…(I am talking about hurricanes, floods, etc, not our state government disaster)

I think those who want to secede should do so on an individual basis…and go where ever they can find some place that will let them in. Individual freedom…that’s what it is all about, right?

    38
  39. Texas asked to join the USA because we needed the US cavalry to protect us from the Indians!

Since the attacks have stopped, some of my fellow Texans are of the opinion that we can fend for ourselves. Especially since about 50% of all the US military bases are located in Texas.

Do these “separatist” think that the US ‘guvment’ is going to pay us rent?

    39
  40. Rhea, thanks so much for that lovely comment. I think I love the Scots.

The British are already worrying that they ‘royally’ f**ked up. Stupid is as stupid does.

  41. Indiana Pearl says:

If Travis County votes to stay in the U.S., will we be eligible for something like the Berlin Airlift?
