No Shoot, Sherlock

If a lie falls on Fox News and no sane person hears it …

I promise you, it still makes a sound.

A leading media fact-checking organization rates Republicans as less trustworthy than Democrats, according to a new study by the Center for Media and Public Affairs (CMPA) at George Mason University. The study finds that PolitiFact.com has rated Republican claims as false three times as often as Democratic claims during President Obama’s second term. Republicans continue to get worse marks in recent weeks, despite controversies over Obama administration statements on Benghazi, the IRS and the AP.

So, there’s a correlation between quantity of lies and desperation?   Wow, who would have thunk that?

Thanks to David for the heads up.

  1. Another difference to bring up when someone clams that “politicians are all the same”….

Along with the fact that the League of Conservation Voters rates virtually all Dems as 80-100 and virtually all GOP as 0-20– http://scorecard.lcv.org

I worked with a Republican male colleague who constantly filled my inbox with the most outrageous internet lies about President Obama. At first, I took the time to find the topic on fact-checking sites and send him the links, but eventually he decided to attack me for calling him on the lies. Of course I was a stupid, tree-hugging liberal who had better wake up to what was happening in this country due to the Muslim Prince. I had to ask him to stop emailing me. His expectation was that I should allow him to “educate” me on the subject, and was irate that I stood up to him. Like a true repug, he wouldn’t allow the facts to get in the way of agood lie.

Hi Maryelle, I have a friend like that. Periodically I would say look, neither of us is going to change our minds so let’s not do this. She finally took the hint and now only sends me pretty pictures of babies and kittens and clouds and it’s way better for my blood pressure.

  6. My favorite from a nut acquaintance was a cartoon showing Obama, Biden and Hillary Clinton on a donkey at the edge of a cliff. The caption asked who would be saved if the donkey fell off the edge. Answer: America!!!!!!!!!

I responded by pointing out that that would make Nancy Pelosi, then the House Speaker, President.

I don’t get emails from that person anymore.

  7. Maryelle, gosh, this sort of internet propaganda barrage thing happened in my family! Talk about ugly!!! Finally had to block all the e-mails coming from that source. After a lengthy “blockade” had to meet with this person at a family event. Ain’t no saving him. One and done. Never again. Bad enough when this happens at work but in the family its even worse. And you bet your button collection that if Hillary runs I will be loud and proud in supporting her! I can smell this relative’s sox burning even now as I say this! Bow! Does he hate her! But he also has lousy relationships with the majority of women in his life. Tells ya somethin’ doesn’t it.
