Monday Morning

July 01, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Just had breakfast and we’re going over the Capitol a couple hours early to try to get a place under a tree or Rick Perry’s head, which is even bigger.

We have no idea what’s going to happen today. The Tea Party people are trying to get a couple hundred people here. There are rumors everywhere, including one that ay Senator Glen Hager doesn’t want to carry the bill in the senate because he wants to run for statewide office and knows this will hurt him. I dunno about that. I think being dumber than a sack of hammers hurts him even more.

There’s also rumors that the House won’t get a quorum today but not to make too much of that.

We are hanging loose so feel free to post what you’re hearing on this post.

Be social and share!

  1. Martha “The Luling Warrior” Dolese reports that the power is being cut at the Capitol. They wouldn’t want the unruly mob to be able Facebook what the Neanderthals are doing, would they?

Whatever. Like a lack of electricity ever stopped a woman on a mission.

Juanita Jean, I’m wearing orange today! Those of us not present are with all of y’all in spirit! Just let me know where to bring the bail money.

  5. I have to admit that most of the members of the Lege don’t have the sense God gave a bowl of buttermilk, but do you think that handicap is going to stop them?

Go get ’em, gals, and remind them who is really the weaker sex.

Here is a good article from a guest in The Texas Tribune, delineating all the things the Regressives did wrong with respect to trying to get their bill passed at the last minute. They were the Unruly Mob! http://www.texastribune.org/2013/07/01/guest-column-protest-caused-unruly-bunch-control/

This is a racist war ( whites against blacks, browns, etc ) and a war to control women’s reproductive rights and health. It’s largely a bunch of men who have a strangle hold on Texas politics and are terrified that someone is going to free Texas from their rightwing totalitarianism.
So, let’s do it ! Let’s free Texas from the religious right, from Perry and his ALEC sidekicks. Let’s be sure that every Democrat and Independent in Texas will vote ! Let’s get legislation drafted that limits the terms of governor, lt. governor, attorney general, et al. Let’s get legislation drafted that allows a proper filibuster, that causes the legislature to meet every year, that allows for recall of every elected official caught in unethical or criminal activity. Let’s force Perry and his cohorts out. Let’s learn how to be as cunning, as cruel, as crafty, as underhanded, as inhumane as they are until we have driven every last one of these greedy, uncaring, and yes, scared old men and women out of office and pinched them off the public teat.
Democrats always try to appear kind and concerned . . . . and weak as water in today’s political arena. We don’t need a party platform; we need a party backbone with plenty of muscle attached. If we have that and a few well thought out goals, we can win this state.
Everywhere there are people talking about what is wrong here in Texas and in our country.. . . . education, help for the poor, infrastructure, jobs. But the talk is always the same .. . . . . a litany of complaints. No action plans, no solid goals, no effort to move forward. Just complaints. And no one who wants to put himself or herself out there in front and be a Democratic leader or politician. Good grief ! We are a party that can spout statistics, polls, policy, and every error, flaw, hole, issue and crime that defines our current political system. But we just can’t get our act together and summon the will to refuse to put up with it any longer.
For every Ted Cruz and Rick Perry, the Democrats should have someone who can counter with the strength of legions of positive, progressive, and able people. Today Wendy Davis and her supporters are showing us a hint of what could be. Fan the flames ! Keep it going ! Bring the Democratic Party back to life.

I had emailed my State Rep, Susan King, over the weekend, along with my Sen. Troy Fraser, Queen Idiot Jodie Laubenberger, GoodHair and Dewhurst voicing my ire at how things were being handled. Susan King is a nurse, her husband is a doc… so you can imagine where my comments landed with her. Well, her Austin office just called me to let me know that they had received my email, and that it was being shared with Rep King. My last comment to her aide was “Texas Women are Watching. I also voiced my issue with King’s voting with the Republican block against the Tx Lily Ledbetter law.

Those of us who are at home today, instead of in Austin, should spend some time emailing el stupidos. One or two lines, and Texas Women Are Watching. Scare the Bejesus out of them. Keep the pressure on, rowdy friends…. soldier on.

My friend Elizabeth and I put ourselves under a liveoak tree and amused ourselves writing on paper covered coat hangers.
Lovely crowd and excellent speeches. Realized the proper response to the anti-demonstrators is “Thank you for helping to turn Texas Blue.”
