Left Hanging

June 21, 2018 By: El Jefe Category: Border Catastrophe, Trump

Just hours after Trump caved to overwhelming pressure on his idiotic separation scheme, word started leaking out of the White House that, characteristically, after causing chaos with some cruel, pointless tactic, the Trump White House has no clue how to reunite over 2,400 kids with their over almost 5,000 parents.  Anyone with common sense can divine the reason because everything Trump does is half-assed, and intended to inflict the most damage, either by design or, more likely, by gross incompetence.  From slashing taxes, to efforts to destroy the ACA, to attempts to reverse education reforms, undo environmental policies, sell off protected lands, everything Trump touches – well I’ll quote Tony Soprano on this one – “I’m the reverse Midas; everything I touch turns to sh*t.”  That old quote is certainly apropos here.  Trump thoughtlessly ripped families apart, and to keep all those people out of sight, immediately shipped them off to seemingly random cities all over he country.  It’s easily conceivable that a family of 4 could have members in different Trump Big Box Prisons in four different states.

Trump thinks that him signing yet another executive order (which reverses his last executive order) will make all the furor go away without doing anything else.  It’s up to us to not let that happen.  There are almost 7,500 people scattered to the 4 winds with no plan to reunite them and to treat them humanely.  It’s time for us to keep the pressure on to fix this catastrophe that is completely of Trump’s own making.

There is a place for anger, and this is it.

Be social and share!

  1. DNA testing. Of course, that costs money. Just add that to the over $700 fee per day for one child in detention camp. And it would take time. The more time a child spends in one of those places the more troubled they are. Ditto for the parent(s). This country is going to pay way over the limit big time for this. And it will come out of the taxes of everyone Trumper and non-trumped alike.l And probably for years.

  2. Maggie, you’re talking about a man who is well known for just declaring that he doesn’t have to pay unless he feels like it. And it won’t come out of taxes because making people pay taxes makes them not like him. It will just raise the deficit, but who cares about that when the party of Greed Over People is in power?

While kicking the kidnapper in chiefs ass. Try not to forget that Trump Made a deal with Kim, To hack the next election’s and keep Trump from being impeached. Korea has the best hacker’s, and with the GOP’s help, Trump will win. { It matter’s not who vote’s. What matters is who count’s the vote’s. } And the GOP with the help of a lot of Russian and North Korean hacker’s will be counting the vote. Should be a GOP landslide. Do you feel better now??

  7. Wait until the thousands of lawsuits start flying around, this is going to cost a couple of billion clam$+ before it’s (maybe) over.
Add up the costs of BP/ICE overtime, per diems, transport costs, the privately run gulags, hordes of functionaries, then pile on the unimaginable costs (at this time) of all the court-related bull that is coming, and a few billion dollars may not be enough.
Assume that this began a year ago and there are 10,000 migrants involved in this process now (remember, this activity is just a small subset of total BP/ICE ops), some ballpark estimates:
    cost $1bil, $100,000 each person
    cost $2bil, $200,000 each
    cost $3bil, $300,000 each
    etcetc…
Perhaps such wasted dollar numbers might begin to sink into SOBOTUS’s rabid base?
Surely there are more efficient and inexpensive ways to do this. As it was handled before Donnei.

Ignoring the grotesque actual policies of the Nazis, they at least were extremely effective, efficient and frugal (until reality caught up with them).
Our homegrown Nazi regime is pure ‘fiscal responsibility’, ain’t it? And they’re a long way from reality.

Imagine this happened in any other country. People arrested for a crime ( I think it is a misdemeanor) and their children taken from them. Parents do not know where the children are and now that country says they have no idea how to reunite families! Human rights groups would be appalled and would demand inspection of these detention sites. Disgusting I am ashamed, every single day.

How much further into depredation can Republicans sink?

    White House:

Everyone in this Trump administrator who participated in this horrific policy should be indicted for interference with parental rights, child abuse and kidnapping.

  11. Maymoon, in case you missed my comment on another item here recently (partial copy below).
Much of this policy looks to be an international human rights crime. There is no statute of limitations on it.

    “I’ve mentioned this criminality before:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forced_disappearance
“In international human rights law, a forced disappearance (or enforced disappearance) occurs when a person is secretly abducted or imprisoned by a state or political organization or by a third party with the authorization, support, or acquiescence of a state or political organization, followed by a refusal to acknowledge the person’s fate and whereabouts, with the intent of placing the victim outside the protection of the law.[1]

According to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, which came into force on 1 July 2002, when committed as part of a widespread or systematic attack directed at any civilian population, a “forced disappearance” qualifies as a crime against humanity and, thus, ***is not subject to a statute of limitations***.”

And like the “Dirty War” in Argentina, babies and toddlers were stolen:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forced_disappearance#Argentina

  12. Maymoon says:

Sandridge, everyone ( with a conscience) knew it was wrong now we know it is a crime. A human rights crime, what has happened to us…I know trump happened.

  13. AP is reporting accusations against Shenandoah Valley Juvenile Center near Staunton, Virginia, that are horrifying. Multiple detainees say guards stripped them of their clothes & strapped them to chairs with bags placed over their heads. This is what is happening to older children.

You haven’t yet grasped the evil.

The Trump White House and Sessions have no intention of even trying. Trump/Sessions made a set of deliberate policy choices to produce this outcome. The kids are shipped away from the border and from the detained parents as quickly as possible, into institutions or foster care, to permanently and deliberately destroy the family units, as a penalty for these brown people having the temerity to want to become Americans. The destruction of the families is the desired outcome.

  15. Linda Phipps says:

Joel hanes, and worst of all, the smallest caged children would not be able to give their full names and certainly no their parents’ names, other than “Mami” and “Papi”. What’s to prevent the real boogeymen, traffickers, to waltz in and take their pick. I heard about the horrid situation in Virginia, many are older children who came in unaccompanied and some have been incarcerated for upwards of a year or more. This like a real onion, the more you peel away, the more you cry.

    15
  16. It is going to rain Habeas Corpus petitions in Texas. On the 21st Flores day following the removal of each child, the government is going to have to answer a petition demanding to know where the child is and on what legal basis that child is being held. Federal District Judges aren’t going to take the answer that we can’t find them without someone being held in contempt. I recommend donations to Act Blue Charity’s fund for seven on the ground legal/social organizations in Texas chasing these kids down. I can’t give you the link because it attaches directly to my private account. This ain’t over by a long shot.

    16
  17. Lless, I read that Faceborg or some crowdfund website had a legal fund raising point that had set records for speed and size, it had raised over $12Million in a few days and was still growing.
This whole thing is going to be terrifically expensive, but what associated with the Mango Mussolini hasn’t been? To everybody else, that is.

joel hanes: “The destruction of the families is the desired outcome.”
Not exactly, the main purpose of this initial family disintegration pogrom has been to make examples of the ones so far caught, in order to terrorize any others planning to seek asylum (legitimately or not) into giving up and returning home. The Trump cabal expect ‘word’ of these depravities to spread around south of the border, and terrify the migrants out of even attempting a crossing.

Maymoon, I wish Trump would ‘unhappen’, IYKWIM…

    .
For the record, I/we used to live on the southeast edge of a small Rio Grande Valley town, just a few miles from the Rio Grande.
The narrow north-south road we lived on became dusty caliche a couple of hundred yards south past the house, down to US281, and became a well-trodden cowpath/field border below the Military Highway (US281) down to the Rio Grande river banks. Every morning, noon, and night for many years (mostly mornings), a steady stream of illegal border crossers walked up that road, from Mexico and CentAm, mostly; past our east porch (corner lot), we watched them from the kitchen windows getting ready for work.
Multiply this by the many other such roads up and down the Valley, and that “11 million” number you see so often is ludicrous.
Most of them plan to go far north, to San Antonio, Houston, and points north. There was a bus station about twelve blocks north on US83, and probably a well organized group of ‘coyotes’ waiting.
That said, almost everybody in the Valley, from near-poor workers to the top dogs, employed some of them at home or business, as maids and gardeners, etc. Even the BP guys, LEO’s, and judges had maids at home helping wifey.
