Just Because They Can

December 06, 2015 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

I was at an State Democratic Executive Committee meeting this weekend where we discussed ballot referenda for our primary ballot, including criminal justice reform, economic security, campus carry, climate change, and other stuff to make our lives better.

The Republicans, who were meeting at the same time across town, decided to take a different approach.  They decided to vote on wherever or not they want to be Americans.

No, I am not making that up.

imagesA proposal to put Texas secession to a non-binding vote in March passed a state GOP committee vote in Austin on Friday afternoon, clearing the way for a vote Saturday by the Party’s full executive assembly, party officials reported.

I was really disappointed that it failed on the floor.  I want those sumbitches to secede.  Hell, I’ll even give them Waco and include a huuuuge wall around it with no way out.

The referendum was worded  …

“If the federal government continues to disregard the constitution and the sovereignty of the State of Texas, the State of Texas should reassert its status as an independent nation.”

They could have shortened it by stating, “Yes, we still have a black President.”

Difference between the GOP and Obama is a black heart versus dark skin.

  2. Isn’t the idea behind their resolution called treason?

  3. Husker Dude says:

I totally support the secession idea because of the money it will save the rest of us. For every dollar that Texas sends to DC, they get about a buck fifty back.

The Texas crazies can just forget the little ol’ thing called The Law.

    3
  4. Texas will NEVER separate from USA…The rich companies there would loose their welfare checks!!!

    4
  5. I’d be all for Texas seceding if it didn’t mean making you and people like you move, JJ– if you want to move.

I’d like to see the look on their faces when they find out that all the military bases and all their other federal gimmees are suddenly gone. Guess what– blue states pay more in federal taxes than we get back and have been carrying y’all for years.

  6. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Outstanding! Let all the snacilbupeR secede, but inform them they must leave the land and take up residence elsewhere. Maybe Somalia would take them.

  7. UmptyDump says:

@Old Bob – B-b-b-but these secessionists call themselves “Patriots”!

    Let’s see:
Military bases, NASA, federal border agents, federal drug agents….

Not even counting the massive subsidies to private industry, I’m guessing that a sizable chunk of Texas’ paychecks come directly from Uncle Sam. If they break off, they can fund it themselves, of course. But they’ll need to start collecting a state income tax. Or a feudal tribute system – their choice. That alone should be enough to make them shut their abysmally ignorant yaps, but I’m not holding my breath.

    PKM: Exactly. Thank you.

And JJ? Why didn’t the Dems pass a motion to help the R’s pack. Now THAT would make our lives better!

    9
  10. Further proof that the R-Klan is living in an alternative universe.
    Wish they could stay there.

    10
  11. And after they actually do secede, who and what will they have to gripe about? Cuz thats all they are. Natural born gripers. Can you imagine the withdrawal sweats and tremors? And there is no antitoxin for this stuff.

    11
  12. It’s been said before, but is worth repeating: Texas is prevented from falling into the Gulf of Mexico only because Oklahoma sucks.

    12
  13. J.J: I started a petition on 5/6/15 on
    https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/login to:
petition the Obama Administration to move all military bases and personnel from the State of Texas.

The petition did not get many signatures but I might just try again.

  14. Marge Wood says:

Sigh. If they do secede, can the rest of us go visit them on weekends and holidays just because we love them anyway and miss their jello salad molds and fried chicken?

    14
  15. is the “Texas Navy” planning on attacking the US Navy? that would be, um, entertaining, for a minute or two.

    15
  16. “Isn’t the idea behind their resolution called treason?”

well, yeah, and your point would be? nobody claimed those guys are particularly bright.

    16
  17. I wish them well. I might even contribute to their campaign – except the lyin, cheatin, sleazeballs would almost certainly misuse the $. After all, they’re snacilbupeR, it’s what they do.

    17
  18. Aggieland Liz says:

    They are SO EMBARRASSING! Sigh…

    18
  19. Linda Phipps says:

Thoughts: I still hold the main reason this initiative failed is the realization that their college and university football programs would be out of their conferences. But just think, they avoided a “Trump”, we could have moved out of our bases, but Texas would be forced to pay for all those logistics.

  20. TrulyTexan says:

As I’ve said before. If they don’t like Mexicans in the state now, wait until they send their army to come take back the land taken from them in the first place. Better start learning Spanish now.

    @cpinva
You would be surprised what some rednecks in a bass boat could do. I would cost the US Navy 100’s of dollars to buff the scratches from the sides of a couple destroyers.

  21. Patticakes says:

Wonder how they will get US mail via the postal service, or how long it will take to set up a new currency and banking system? How about passports? Airports…. FAA? Bye bye federal dollars to “protect their border with Mexico”. Idiots. Just simply idiots. Go away, you bother me.
