  1. I would have thought the Clampetts would have been Democrats.

  2. You do her a great injustice, sir.

  3. That banker, Drysdale– HE was a snacilbupeR.

Let’s drown him in the cement pond for impersonating a delightful character.

  5. Marge Wood says:

I KNEW he reminded me of somebody familiar.

Awe come on! Not Granny! Sessions can’t even cook a decent squirrel stew. And she was possessed of profoundly common sense wisdom and gentleness. Sessions is a skunk (sorry little critter) with no redeeming value. At least skunks dance on their front paws. Before squirting .

OMG … not Granny Clampett!!! The resemblance is truly uncanny and an insult to Granny!!!

Now that’s as good a pair of doppelgangers as I’ve ever seen!

  9. Jane & PKM says:

The facial features are similar, until you look at the eyes. In one set you see kindness and wisdom. The other? Odd. Would not have expected evil to have such a vacant look.

  10. Sandridge says:

Granny Daisy Moses (Clampett) had the best, most active part on “The Beverly Hillbillies”, but she (her character) waved a treasonous Confederate flag, and bragged on it every chance she got, on the show. So the two of them have that in common too.

(BTW, the Beverly Hillbillies show is rerun on MeTV at 0630CDT each weekday, the earliest B/W ones are pretty good, and witty)

“She is a Confederate to the core, defending President Jefferson Davis, the Stars and Bars, and the simple life. Short-fused and easily angered, Granny fancies herself a “dunked” (not “sprinkled”) Christian with forgiveness in her heart. She abhors “revenuers” and blue-coat Yankees.”

Jeff Sessions confirms one of my dear departed mother’s pet theories: Never trust a man with a weak chin.

  12. e platypus onion says:

Jed Clampett was a real life wingnut. He used to do radio ads against Jane Hathaway as she ran for congress in California. They all be gone except fer Jethro and his cyphering and carrying aughts.

Granny and Sessions look like twins from different generations. He is her doppleganger.

    12
  13. Sandridge, Granny Clampett may have waved the Confederate flag, but I can assure you, based on my similar relatives– Appalachian rather than Ozark– that she was not defending slavery. It would be much more about the revenuers and other gubmit agents that she wanted to keep their big flat feet off’n her property. (Mountain farmers didn’t have enough money to have slaves if they’d wanted to.)

Jefferson no regard (for civil rights) Sessions was born in the wrong century.

  15. Lunargent says:

Hmm, I’d never thought of Granny Clampett.

Every time I see that shot of Sessions, I think, “Hey, look – Gollum went to the optometrist!”

JEB! JEB! Oh hell, wrong sitcom!

An apology to a fine and funny actress would have been nice, tho.

    17
  18. Granny was much smarter.
(I absolutely detested that show, but I’d rather watch it than Sessions.)

Debbo: I agree on both counts.

    19
  20. Sandridge says:

    Debbo and That Other Jean,
I never thought much of TBH either, didn’t watch it when it started or later (waaay too busy back in ’62 on).
But the last couple of years have seen some of it rerun on MeTV, and the earliest seasons have a lot of episodes that are as good as many Britcoms. Witty, full of double entendres, cagey plots, even snide political satire. PFG, IMO, try watching those early ones, you may like ’em.

I rarely ever watched TV or saw movies (except kid’s ones), but now OTA TV, and lots of good old movies of every era (never had cable or sat, never will pay for it) has a number of different networks that run all kinds of different old(er) series (and some recent). Still don’t see many 100% as I’m still too damn busy, but watch or record some anyway.

  21. Nancy Wickman says:

I want proof that Jeff Sessions is not the love child of Granny Clampett and a Keebler elf. I demand he show his birth certificate!

    21
  22. Ha! Thanks so much for this — I really, really need a laugh sometimes, and the resemblance is truly amazing! Thanks, too, to all the patrons of the Salon. You delight me!
