It Seems Like Only Yesterday ….

Please don’t tell John Boehner.  He’ll cry.

Oh, but there’s more hilarity.

Mr. DeLay was defending Republicans’ choice to borrow money and add to this year’s expected $331 billion deficit to pay for Hurricane Katrina relief. Some Republicans have said Congress should make cuts in other areas, but Mr. DeLay said that doesn’t seem possible.

“My answer to those that want to offset the spending is sure, bring me the offsets, I’ll be glad to do it. But nobody has been able to come up with any yet,” the Texas Republican told reporters at his weekly briefing.

Asked if that meant the government was running at peak efficiency, Mr. DeLay said, “Yes, after 11 years of Republican majority we’ve pared it down pretty good.”

Thanks to David for the heads up.

  1. OMG!!!!!!! The ignorance..and chutzpah…of these people!!!!

  2. That’s how they run things when they’re running things.

I’ll bet ol’ Tom is rolling in his grave (Jefferson, not DeLay).

The amazing thing is that DeLay can get a group of reporters together for his “weekly press briefing”. I can’t think of too many people with less relevance and influence than DeLay. He’s a pariah in the GOP which is really hard to achieve.

  4. I love how stories like this from the Bush era back in 2005 suddenly resurface – sort of like when the body of a long-missing relative tumbles out after the door is opened to an upstairs closet. Almost as good as Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho” when the desiccated carcass of Norman’s mom turns up in the attic.

There is also a nice video of Paul Ryan supporting sequester until he discovered that it was Obama’s fault.

It’s like they are chasing their tails.

  6. Always funny how whenever a Democratic president is in office, the government is suddenly spending money like it’s going out of style, but when the repubs are in control, everything is hunky-dory (and don’t you dare question anything unless you want to be labeled unpatriotic).

I wonder where this magic spending switch is located?

  7. Some thing else that is always funny. When a Republican President is in office the rise in gasoline prices is blamed on the President friendship with the “Big Oil” who are allowed to “Gouge” consumers.

From JT but when the Repubs(Dems) are in control, everything is hunky-dory (and don’t you dare question anything unless you want to be labeled unpatriotic). Despite doubling of gasoline prices since a Dem President took office

I wonder where this magic spending switch is located?

    Roy Mark,

    What?

  9. Roy Mark — The something else that is funny is not nearly as funny as your grammar and sentence structure. I’m beginning to think that radical righters are not native English speakers anymore because they have invented a new language all their own.

  10. What legitimate news organization would rely on a single word from this Convict?

  11. JT & Roy Mark- what part of Bush’s unpaid bills do you think the current President is responsible for- and why do the two of you seem like twins in one very small brain?
You will find yourselves in way over your heads if you spend much time here; but go ahead…
I guarantee you will leave with bite marks!

@ aj, why you pickin on JT?? A regular poster, and what was said was basically IOKIYAR? Roy Mark obviously a RW troll, dont waste your time: never seem it here before, but by all means leave bite marks! Really savage it! That will be the downside of the C&L gig, lotsa trolls! Believe i’ll stay here! 🙂
