If He Was Any Slower, He’d Be Going Backwads

Y’all, Greg Abbott ain’t exactly gubernatorial material.  Hell, he ain’t even professional wrestler smart.

Get a load of this.  Four days after 9 innocent American were murdered by a stone cold killer with legal firearms, Greg wants to join in the serious discussion.

Uh, Greg, I do not think that’s what the President meant. He meant that he wants to get guns out of the hands of stone cold killers, he does not mean that we should allow killers to show off their guns before they kill people with them, like you want, you damn idiot.

Only Greg Abbott would make himself look like Satan on a hot day just so he could say Obama is wrong.  Even when the President isn’t.

Greg Abbott, just like Rick Perry, only dumber.

Thanks to Kellye for the heads up.

Other than Halloween, what is it about October or this particular Tuesday that has summoned all the weirdness the Republicons have to offer at the rate it popped up today?

Seriously, reading here and skimming at C&L, their st00pid is rattling my head today. Not only do they seem beyond intoxicated, it’s as if someone laced their beverages with LSD.

I will need to return tomorrow to cope with Loopy Louie’s financials. He’s always good for a laugh, but this has been too much of a good thing compressed into one day.

  2. Ralph Wiggam says:

I read a different perspective on this subject today.

According to the FBI there are 200 million guns in private ownership in the USA. A lot of us would like to see some laws enacted to control those 200 million guns, but the only people we can ask to control them are the same people who failed to control meth, crack cocaine, marijuana, and Oxycontin.

Yeah, gun control by the same people who brought you meth control.

    Lotsa luck with that.

  3. If you would have told me that there could be a dumber governor than Rick Perry – at one time, I would not have believed you. Now I do. We sure have to scrape the bottom of the barrel to get our governors here in Texas.

Then again, if you would have told me at one time that there was a Bush dumber than W, I would have thought that impossible, too. Go back and look at clips of Lil Bush, and see Jeb go to school on the short bus.

  4. Just read an article in the Guardian about why people think they need guns, written by a Brit who has trouble with the concept (as do I):

The real jaw-dropper is the photo… please someone tell me this is a sick joke… of the wedding couple holding hands with their new rings, and a belt of ammo draped over their hands. I know there’s something like that in a Jewish wedding, but without the freakin’ ammo belt…!

  5. I tried to go over tio his twitter feed and have a look around, but I’m afraid I would be arrested if I spent too long looking through it.

    Horrible, horrible human being.

“The Texas law (forcing public universities to allow guns on campus) takes effect on Aug. 1, the 50th anniversary of the killing of 16 people by student Charles Whitman, who fired from a perch atop the Austin campus’s clock tower.”

How appropriate that the gun nut gubbner celebrate his great day. 50 years to the day since a crazy person with a gun killed tons of people! Because of Whitman’s love of the 2nd amendment we now have his new law! Only Guns Can Stop Guns! The militarization of the police is just the cherry on top of Duh Gubbner’s happy anniversary.

  7. After every new mass shooting/ gun tragedy it seems like we’re being told “Shut up!” and then “Go buy a gun!”. We need to go after these NRAites and say that the way things are is how they want them to be. Just ask them what they’ve done to protect us from gun violence, and the answer has to be NOTHING.

  8. JAKvirginia says:

Ralph: I believe the FBI estimate was 270 million. For a 316 million population. Scary, huh?

As for Abbott, a friend put it rather well: I understand what put his body in a wheelchair. What put his brain in one?

    8
  9. Ralph Wiggam says:

JAKvirginia, my numbers may be out of date but the truth is still the same. The problem is insurmountable. Pew Research estimated 270 million to 310 million in 2013 but they did not break it down into civilian and LEA/military guns. WaPo says civilians owned 310 million in 2009 and 357 million by 2013. I chose the lower FBI number to avoid hyperbole.

The bottom line is that it doesn’t matter whether we drown in a lake or in an ocean. We are drowning in guns.

We have to learn to live with guns because laws and law enforcement can’t control hundreds of millions of guns. We have to fix the “people” problem because we can’t fix the “gun” problem. At least not in my lifetime.

As Tom Tomorrow says, “The occasional horrific civilian massacre is just the price the rest of us have to pay–over and over again apparently.”

  10. Seriously, did the accident that put Ab-butt in a wheelchair also impair his mind? Was he always this un-evolved?

I never knew someone could be paralyzed from the waist down and the neck up at the same time. We’re gonna need a bigger tree.

  12. Just read The Guardian article. Totally over the top excellent! but then heck I’m biased as it reflects my own thinking.

    12
  13. If you took the DUMB of Rick Perry and multiplied it a thousand times you’d have Greg Abbott.

  14. Marcia in CO says:

If you are on Facebook, do a search for Mark Carman and find his video that is just a tad over 11 minutes long and listen to it and then share it!! It’s all about making gun control more reasonable and SANE. He is starting a campaign and this video went viral in a matter of seconds. And it is worth the time to watch and listen to what he has to offer.

I couldn’t find a link for his video, so you have to go to Facebook and find him and that particular video … he has other short ones, but this longer one is a must listen to one.

  15. How did Australia convert from a gun toting society to strict regulation? If they can do it, so can we.

  18. Horrifying that the open carry goes into effect on the anniversary of the Texas tower shooting. Yesterday, my two daughters who attend U-T Austin were under a “campus alert” because there were social media posts threatening violence on the campus. I texted them regularly during the day to make sure no shootings had happened (yet).

Is this really how we want to live?

It’s my understanding that Charles Whitman’s autopsy revealed a brain tumor.

    What’s this guy’s excuse?
