Houston

August 19, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

My son went to the rally in downtown Houston today.  This is small portion of the Nazi fighters.

And the entire Trump/Nazi crowd —

This is Houston, where it was almost 96 degrees today with 80% humidity and our people turned out.

My son was a tad disappointed that he didn’t get arrested.  His lawyer wife stayed at home with the baby so she could make bail for them.  Here he is with his wife’s two best friends.

Rumor has it that 40,000 people turned out in Boston against 25 Nazis.

I’m posting this on the go so please forgive any mistakes.

  1. Sounds like they had a pretty good plan. Thank him for me.

  2. Actually it was estimated that the “Free Speechers” numbered around 100. They all fit in that gazebo in Boston Commong. About 40,000 turned out to protest them.

It makes my heart swell to see crowds like that.

  4. Looks like about 25 Trump fans there. My, how the mighty have fallen…beleeve me.

  6. We shall fight the Neo-Nazis with growing confidence and growing strength, we shall defend our Nation whatever the cost may be, we shall fight them on the streets, we shall fight in the parks, we shall fight with our computers and social media; we shall never surrender.

  7. And I know the anti-Nazis were happier and had a much better time being together.

  8. If what little memory I have of my protest era in the 60s serves, it was at protests that you met the best gals! It would appear that still holds true! I am too old and crippled up to partake in either protests or the gals now. But I can still lend a bit of support. Keep up the good work!

  9. Oh my…

So my little bride and I drove to downtown Dallas to attend the demonstration there. DPD and TxDPS were in everywhere a once. It was a well-policed as the State Fair in recent years. One great idea was to block intersections with dump trucks or city buses, i spose to prevent the odd KKK-Nazi-etc sympathizer from running down pedestrians.

Even with the usual downtown Dallas traffic snarl we escaped via Deep Ellum within 30 minutes and were home sipping a tomato juice based adult beverage in just over 90 minutes. Not too bad I think.

The speakers were interesting, particularly Rev. Michael Waters and a speaker whose name I didn’t hear. Well worth the time in the motor car and the $10 parking fee.

I’m in Boston. Had planned to go to the Common, but then got an e-mail from the ACLU asking for volunteer lawyers to be on call just in case enormous numbers of people got arrested. I quit hovering over my phone when I heard that the alt-rightists, all 20 of them, left after about an hour. Then the rest of the crowd — I’ve heard everything from 25,000 to 40,000 — had a party on the Common for the rest of the day. The weather was beautiful.

  11. Micro reminded me of something recent. Why were there humungous trucks filled with sand in front of Trump Tower? They reminded me of the time when there was a huge demonstration in favor of Israel during the exceptionally short war between them and Egypt. Interurban buses were lined up by the police to cordon off the park across the street from the White House. As far as I know there wasn’t a demonstration taking place in front of Trump Tower NYC. Anyone got any ideas?

    11
  12. Maggie. Maybe I can enlighten you. They dump the sand to have room to haul off the Caca del Toro coming from Trump tower.

  13. @maggie

Just a guess, but the sand-filled truck has enough mass to absorb and contain the impact of a large explosive filled motor vehicle. The truck and sand mass ups the ante for the bombmaker.

  14. You raised good one there, as a parent that is a complete success. You should be proud.

  15. I heard that in Boston, many of the cops partied with the counter protestets. They must have been pretty surprised to be told after the fact that they were viciously attacked.

This is what is great about the US. Nazis can legally make their voices heard. And for every one that does, a thousand normal people come out to say ” This is not us”
