Hot Times in the Old Town Tonight!

CNN says Paul Manafort was wiretapped before and after the election with a FISA warrant.

And the New York Times says Manafort has been notified that he will be indicted.

Back to my popcorn ….

  1. OT (again :]), but this is incredible:
    Another Category 5 is alive!
Hurricane Maria didn’t even wait until midnight. From a Cat 1 to a Cat 5 in less than 18 hours. Insane…

God or whatever help the poor SOB’s in the path of this one. (the models seem to be bending ever so slightly westward (4 hours to next runs published), Floriduh had better get ready, again)

“winds of 160 mph (260 km/h) with higher gusts”… Nothing stands up to this.

…HURRICANE HUNTER AIRCRAFT FIND MARIA AS CATEGORY 5 HURRICANE ON THE SAFFIR-SIMPSON HURRICANE WIND SCALE…

Air Force Reserve hurricane hunter aircraft data indicate Hurricane Maria has intensified into an extremely dangerous Category 5 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale with maximum winds of 160 mph (260 km/h) with higher gusts.
A special advisory will be issued at 800 PM AST (0000 UTC) in lieu of the scheduled intermediate advisory for Maria.”

  2. Hurricane Maria is also developing a pinhole eye.

    2
  3. RE: Manafort wiretap… rot row.

Manafort always had that smirky SEG, like he just $crewed the neighbor’s dog and nobody could possibly know. Maybe no such agency does.

    3
  4. Tilphousia, a “pinhole eye” is just a small, compact one, indicative of a very powerful and cohesive cyclone that has or is strengthening.
Y’all keep in mind that the “fuel” for these monstrous storms is very warm ocean water.
The oceans are the primary heatsink for much of the extra heat that mankind is producing, or causing to be produced. The more heat we add to the oceans, the more, and worse, storms there will be.
We turn the whole place into a sauna, we’ll all boil, or fry.

“Hurricane Maria has developed explosively this afternoon as it passed north of the island of Martinique on track to the west coast of the beautiful island of Dominica.
***When Maria hit the deep pool of warm water that has built up in front of the islands its eyewall tightened up, the eye became clear and the cloud tops rose up so high that they cooled to -74º Celsius or -101º F.***
This combination of cold cloud tops and warm pinhole eye has an objectively estimated wind speed of 140 knots or 160mph if the hurricane has had sufficient time to spin up.”

  5. This is terrible. We’ve visited Puerto Rico twice and have friends there, but I ache for Dominica (DomiNEEca), a beautiful little island country. We were there for only a few hours off a cruise ship, but the island won my heart with its unspoiled rainforest mountains and its warm people. It’s only fifteen miles long but its highest mountain is 4747 feet (1447m); the Carib name for the island means “Tall is her body.” They don’t have a lot of tourists because their beaches are shallow– they’re known for their devotion to nature, so they get the hikers instead. Their flag includes the Sisserou parrot, found only on Dominica. They’ve survived lesser hurricanes, but this will be the first time on record that they’ve been hit by a Category 5, and it is going to beat all hell out of them. Tropical storm Erika two years ago caused damage equal to 90% of their GDP. A third of the people work in agriculture, which will probably be wiped out. I wish I thought prayers would help them.

  6. Watch Hurricane Maria chewing Dominica to pieces, from the French Meteo Radar Martinique (scary), as long as it lasts…:

“Prime minister’s residences’ roof is off. Tremendous amount of roof damage reported. People panicking.”

  7. JAKvirginia says:

    Hurricane Maria — Ruh-roh!
    Paul Manafort — Ruh-roh!

Dear doG: Protect those in Maria’s path. The other guy? Don’t trouble yourself.

  8. Annabelle Lee says:

Donnie Jr. just ditched his Secret Service protection, citing the need for more privacy.

Is he running, or just paranoid?

    8
  9. I hope Donnie Jr has to change his undies several times a day. Manafart is well past that and knows it.

Maria? F*ck. The Caribbean is getting shredded this fall. OMG, and I say that with a sinking heart.

    9
  10. Just found out that when the FBI did that pre-dawn raid at Manafort’s house in Alexandria he was sound asleep in bed as they picked his damn lock and then woke him up. They weren’t taking any chances of a daylight raid that would announce their presence so he could hide/destroy whatever they were looking for. Cannot feel for him one bit! Smooth operator has just taken a skid on the ice!

    10
  11. I wonder though, why is the indictment being “publicized”?

Is this like fishing with dynamite?

    11
  12. Just waiting for the other shoe to drop and go BOOM!
