Holy Crap! This Is NOT What I Need to Wake Up To

May 01, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Even before my first sip of coffee, I glanced at Huffington Post and saw this.  I quickly closed the window on my computer.  I am not going back.  I am not.

If you have the nerve and are wearing biochemical gear, click on the little one to see it full size.

,

Hey, don’t holler at me that scared you.  I warned you.

While every single quote was anonymous because people generally don’t like to be seen as totally goofy with a cherry on top, my favorite part is where it says …

His supporters argue that he’d be a Barry Goldwater type — a nominee who would rattle the Republican establishment and reconnect the party with its base – but with better electoral results.

Wait a minute!  Hold on!  That makes as much sense as a screendoor on a submarine.  That’s why Goldwater lost – he reconnected the party with its 34% base and was thereby seen as a kook.  And hell, Barry Goldwater was a likeable guy and had a few friends in his own party.  Cruz is neither.

Oh please, sweet baby Jesus, let him get the nom. Amen.

Talk about idiots, the man was born in Kenya ah, ah Canada!

  3. Linksmasgrybas says:

And, he can prove it too.

  4. W C Peterson says:

“Ted” is his nickname. His real name is Rafael Edward Cruz. We should call him by his real name. Use all three, like the news does for accused felons. Same should apply to John Ellis Bush. Nicknames are used for friends, and these guys are anything but.

  5. maryelle says:

The article says his “friends and confidants”. He has friends?
It also quotes a Repug as saying he’s the “purest of the young conservative senators.” Ah, yes, Ted Cruz is pure, undadulterated narcicism. bigotry, hypocrisy and sociopathic ruthlessness: perfect profile to be #1 on the FBI’s most wanted list.

  6. UmptyDump says:

The only way this nation will end up with Cruz leading us is if he succeeds in reenacting the Beer Hall Putsch and the Reichstag Fire.

  7. W C Peterson says:

And, wasn’t Rafael one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?

  8. dbtexas says:

Well, I visited HP this morning and went over to the link about Cruz. Even added a comment or two, and wondered why so many were praising this idea. Then, I looked at the URL and realized I was on the National Review site. Calmed me a little, since that is what’s expected over there. My favorite section was the listing of Republican presidential wannabes: Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, Bobby Jindal and Scott Walker. If ever a clown review existed, this is it. Although each of these “candidates” are probably a little sharper than our “beloved” Rick Perry, the end results on the national stage would be similar, in my opinion.

  9. angela says:

Ahhhh. C’mon everybody. All this tells us is that the base of the GOP is so butt hurt that they can’t judge reality anymore and Ted has been rubbed so hard by them his grasp on reality is even worse. All the poor things know is Ted makes them feel good when he spits, sneers and belches no—but never actually tries to come close to governance.

Go Ted, don’t let the fact that your own colleagues would send you off into bear country smeared in bacon fat, trout and jam to get the empty cooler they left in the van.

    9
  10. The further off the right-wing cliff the GOP plunges the better for the country as a whole in coming national elections. Perhaps the Republicans figure they can garner the Hispanic vote with this guy and still placate their looney TP base. Not!

    10
  11. OMG that’s too funny. Barry Goldwater? Goldwater was for the gays and adamantly opposed to the radical right. He thought that Falwell should be kick in the…… fill in the blank. Goldwater was too far to the left for Cruz and those of us of a certain age remember when he was considered too far right.

    11
  12. Barry Goldwater had more integrity in his little finger than Cruz will ever accumulate.

    12
  13. Im laughing at this one….Cruz might take Texas, but that will be the only red in a sea of blue as Hillary takes the rest of the country…..

    13
  14. Guess it’s time to dust off those Coast Rican real estate brochures

    14
  15. Stephanie in Arlington says:

I would love for him to run, just so we could get his 15 minutes over with more quickly. Just like with that caribou queen from up north.

    15
  16. gramiam says:

Not Costa Rica, Nate!!!! Rush Limbaugh has sworn he would move there if President Obama was re-elected…..but maybe he was bluffing.

  17. Uncle Dave says:

Think back to twelve to eighteen months ago and how much we enjoyed the Republican urination competition.* The 2015/16 urinate-off* promises to be every bit as entertaining.

*Momma, I’m trying to keep it polite, honest I am.

    17
  18. gramiam says:

As President Obama said of Marco Rubio, “He is a Senator in his first term and he is already thinking he is qualified to be President?” ROFLMAO!

    18
  19. I am with SomedayGirl. Would love to see him run.

    19
  20. sbarbinbastrop says:

Ted Cruz as a presidential candidate is an answer to prayers offered Democrats. Now if his ego is small enough, he will pick a Sarah Palin type as his VP, but with his ego, he may decide he can do both jobs.

    20
  21. Time for Molly Ivins:

“Next time I tell you someone from Texas should not be president of the United States, please pay attention.”

We’ve already sent one idiot who did his best to destroy the country 13 years ago to be President, let’s not do it again, shall we?

    21
  22. I knew it, I just knew it – sooner or later the rethugs would
    try to elect the devil!

    22
  23. Miemaw says:

I almost lost my breakfast, at just the headline.

Now, after reading the piece, and knowing how many people “Rafael Edward Cruz” has already pi**ed off, and pi**ed on, in the U. S. Senate. He pretty much has the same effect on everybody.

So…. I gotta honestly wonder, could he really even carry Texas? Even with Koch money? I’m thinkin’ it wouldn’t be easy. Even with a long and short form birth certificate.

You almost have to be somewhat a little likeable, for people to vote for you…. and nobody likes this guy, except the folks who give him lots of money, because they want favors. Geesh…… Just when you think the Repubs couldn’t do any more damage to themselves. They come up with this. I’m thinking this is what they call in politics “a trial balloon”. And, it’s definitely a dud.

I had to unlike the Huff Po page after they got bought by AOL. The insane headlines jamming my newsfeed were getting to me. Now I only go go there when I am up to it.

    27
  28. I would love to see Carnival run and be the GOP/tea party nominee. President H. Clinton would be a good thing for this country

    28
  29. I vote for a Ted/Louie ticket! Two morons eliminated in one election!

    29
  30. Katie Johnsonius says:

aj, make that “Rafael/Louie ticket” and I’ll join ya!

    30
  31. Oh, boy! I can’t wait for the Rethugs primary season to start. Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Paul Ryan, no doubt. And Rick Santorum will surely toss his halo in the ring, maybe Marco Rubio. I wouldn’t bet against Newt Gingrich taking another stab at it. It will be very entertaining and, I hope, devastatingly bruising to the eventual nominee. I’m stocking up on popcorn.

And, in other news, today is the anniversary of the day George W. Bush, with a baking potato strategically placed in his flight suit, declared the end of his Iraq War. Surely a day to remember fondly, unless of course, you have two brain cells to rub together.

WFAA in Dallas conducted a poll on Eduardo’s chances as a presidential candidate and came up with 82% *against.*

Thank Gawd for Article II, Section 1 of the US Constitution: “No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States.” And Linksmasdrybas is correct – Eduardo was born in Calgary, Canada.

    35
  36. “a screen door on a submarine” oh, ouch, the best ever.

    36
  37. Sandridge says:

Yes! 2016- the wREC and Snotty ticket! Cruz ‘n Walker, are you ready?

    39
  40. Al of Tubac,AZ says:

Hey Elaine, I wrote comment # 35 above. I am an American born hispanic who served in the military and who has studied our history most of my life. You are so right-on…why these people refuse to accept everything they are told about the world is beyond me – especially with so much information available in the internet to come to logical conclusions.

My dad, born in Texas in 1917 and still kicking, lived through the Great Depression and served in WWII. He forgets things, but remembers much of those years and his insight is priceless. Juanita Jean’s taken on where Molly Ivens left off….exposing the s**t for brains that get elected….according to dad, that has not changed!
