Hey, I Want One Of Them There Get Out Of Jail Free Cards

It appears that speeding is legal in Forney, Texas, if you’re George Zimmerman.  Forney, Texas, is right outside of Dallas.

Zimmerman was speeding in Forney, Texas on Sunday, just after noon, when he was stopped by police.  Zimmerman told cops he was headed “nowhere in particular,” and informed them he had a firearm in his glove compartment.

Zimmerman was given a warning, after cops determined he was free of warrants.  He was sent on his way with a polite goodbye, “Have a safe trip.”

The stop lasted around 5 minutes.

BTW … law enforcement tells TMZ … he was NOT wearing a disguise … it was full blown George Zimmerman.

Dashboard camera video is here.

No Particular Place To Go was made famous by Chuck Berry.  And George Zimmerman.  Doesn’t he know it’s too hot to wear hoodies in Texas this time of year?

Thanks to Peter and Steve for the heads up.

  1. He didn’t even need a jury to get off this time. It’s getting easier and easier. Pretty soon he’ll just be able to look someone in the eye and say, “my name is Zimmerman… GEORGE Zimmerman. And I have a license to kill, speed…”

  2. For a guy w/out a job, he’s driving a fairly new Honda pickup. Probably heading to Glenn Beck’s studio to tape interviews or whoever his publicist lined up, or meet with a ghost-writer to write his memoirs maybe? Given all the moola he & his legal team managed to bank over the past 2 years, there has got to be a book & interview deal inked.

He had a fire in his glove compartment?

  4. Well, cheez Lou-eez! Wait until the civil case opens up and they find out about the drugs GZ used. Nothing street, you understand. Just some lightweight psychotropics that can under certain circumstances create delusions. Seems he had to start on such stuff when he did the domestic violence thing and some other stuff. And this guy was allowed to have a gun! Considering what some of these scrip drugs do to you, yes he was physically there for the neighborhood watch training but his brain was hanging out someplace else. No wonder he told people that he had never been “educated” about SYG and a whole bunch of other stuff. Time is not going to be very good for him.

  5. When you get off scott-free for murder – speeding is a cinch. I think it’s time for him to go into the banking business.

  6. This is how CBS reported it:

(CBS) FORNEY, Texas – George Zimmerman, the former Florida neighborhood watch leader cleared of all charges in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, was pulled over for speeding in North Texas on Sunday, CBS DFW reports.

According to the station, Zimmerman was armed when officers pulled him over on Highway 80 in Forney, east of Dallas.

George Zimmerman smiles after a not guilty verdict was handed down in his trial at the Seminole County Courthouse, Saturday, July 13, 2013, in Sanford, Fla.

The officer reportedly did not recognize Zimmerman, who was driving a Honda pickup. Zimmerman told the officer he was armed and was then told to put the weapon in his glove compartment, according to the station. The officer then told Zimmerman he could go on his way if he had no criminal issues.

The incident was captured on the officer’s dashcam.

At some point during the traffic stop, Zimmerman asked the officer whether he recognized him from television and the officer said he did not, the station reports.

When asked where he was going, the 29-year-old Zimmerman reportedly told the officer, no place in particular. He was released on a warning.

Evidently the Police in TX didn’t sit glued to their TVs for the trial … neither did I.

  8. No speeding ticket?

  9. Larry McLaughlin says:

What is the “thing” he has on policemen, when they never arrest him when he’s doing wrong things?

    10
  10. I think Liz has it; remember the A.G. invited firearm enthusiasts from N.Y. to move to Texas, Florida is sort of South New York.

  11. Y’all are going to have to enlighten me on this.

If you have a “gun permit” does it just go where ever you go?
Or is it only good in the state where it was issued?

So, if you have a permit to carry issued by the State of Florida, …. it’s good anywhere, and everywhere???

Given we have the exclusive monopoly on “crazies”, doesn’t surprise me he would come here.

My apologies for OT. Obama will review chemical plant rules since Perry and crew won’t. Hope the Guv’s hair falls out.

Miemaw-that is called reciprocity where states agree to honor other state’s laws. Apparently decided on a case by case basis as shown when states decided they didn’t have to honor same sex marriages.

Jeez, do you think he’s paying a visit to Ted Nugent—with a side visit to Dubya’s “ranch” in the same area of the state? Now that’s an image that’ll make you start drinking earlier in the day…..

  15. I saw the clip on my local news this morning. I love the part where Zim shows his license saying, “Did you see the name?” — basically, “don’t you know who I am?”

    The Ego Has Spoken.

I’m increasingly convinced that Zim has Narcissistic Personality Disorder. I do not see this ending well for him.

    16
  16. Miemaw:

Gun laws are state by state. There is no national law for CCW holders. Some states have reciprocity agreements with other states, but basically if you have a gun permit and are crossing state lines you better be darn sure you check about applicable laws wherever you’re going.

One of the things the NRA has been trying to do is get a national reciprocity law passed.

    17
  17. Also, I’m sure we can all rest easier knowing George Zimmerman is speeding around the country, going no place in particular, armed. What could possibly go wrong?

    /sarcasm

    18
  18. I use to live about 10 miles from Forney. It’s a lot like Vidor. Except all my neighbors were retired military officers who worked for E Systems or their contractors.
That’s along way from home for GZ to be just cruising around.

  19. Just Suze says:

Hmm, Plaxico Burris (football player) had a FL gun license and carried a gun into a bar in NYC. He ended up in Rykers Island for 2 years. Can we convince Zimmy to speed up to New York City?

  20. Litlhorn says:

Texas IS between Florida and Mexico. I magine he might just be heading South of the Border afore that Civil thing happens, so he can hide all those Ducets he’s collected in the last few years…OR maybe someone ought to look at his calves, see if they be cantaloupes…

    21
  21. Miemaw, the states with reciprocity with Florida can be found here [http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/news/concealed_carry.html]. There are special provisions to the reciprocity on some of them as the laws don’t say the same thing (for instance, FL law allows a lot of kinds of weapons, while many states only allow handguns and pistols). The exceptions are listed by number on the same page. They are an interesting read.

FL has reciprocity with LA, TX, and AZ. If he’s going west, he’s free to carry until CA. Currently FL has reciprocity with 34 other states. I find it interesting that they recently lost reciprocity with WA and wonder why.

Looks like they don’t have it with the west coast (AK being the exception) and much of New England. They do with the south, most of what we consider as the west and the midwest.

    22
  22. Might he have heard via Zimm-signal that there was a family trapped in a car accident?

    23
  23. Doesn’t matter which states have reciprocity gun laws with Florida… Mexico does not. He rides across that border, packing heat in the glove compartment… he is in for a very rude awakening. When one travels the highways in Mexico, there are military checkpoints everywhere complete with tanks, bunkers, soldiers wearing helmets and toting machine guns, along with the head-to-toe black clad Federales who even wear masks similar to ski masks to hide their identity who check your vehicle. If you are traveling north, they are looking for drugs. Going South they are looking for guns and cash. These guys risk their lives every day trying to stop drug violence, and basically have very little sense of humor. There are about a half dozen of these stops between Tijuana and Cabo alone; there actually is very little drug cartel activity on the Baja. The mainland has the drug corridors. I haven’t driven much along the Mexican side of the US border that stretches from Tx to California, but I would imagine the Mx military has a bigger presence there, than on the Baja Peninsula. He’s in deep kaka. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

I think Moms Hugs got it right. Sanford Florida to Dallas area? I wouldn’t be surprised at all to hear about Zimmerman’s appearance on The Glenn Beck & Delusional Friends Show.

Southern Beale also nailed it with Zim’s narcissistic personality issues. This will not be not the last time we hear about GZ.

  25. mike from iowa says:

SusanF-Florida passed concealed carry for military veterans starting at age 18,everyone else is 21 years old to be eligible. Washington won’t allow anyone under 21 to conceal carry so the NRA accuses Washingtons A.G. of being anti-veterans.

It is customary for those with CC permits to hand their photo permit AND their driver’s license to the DPS officer, if stopped.

It is always smart to check out what the reciprocity is for any state you wish to travel through on your way to where you are going. Don’t even think about carrying a weapon onto any airplane, regardless of whether you have a CC permit or not.

No, I am not pleased that Zimmermann has decided to travel Texas.
