  1. Voting in North Carolina started on the 23rd. I was there that day. I’m happy to report a long line. I was done in 45 minutes. I’ve signed up to do phone calls this weekend, and I’m available some days before the 4th to take people to the polls.

Voting is important people. Do it.

    1
  2. The most recent info from the hinterland and elsewhere indicates that Dems who had been thought lost causes are pulling up fast and hard. Keep fingers crossed. VOTE BLUE!

Early voting is looking good. Lots to deal with on Ballot Board. Hope you and the others enjoy the days of verifying and working thru the paper ballots.

  4. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Texas, please go vote and reward Mrs. B. and the many others for their hard work!

Elect Wendy Davis and Leticia Van de Putte this year and look forward to replacing as many Congress varmints as possible in 2016. Please make C-SPAN watchable again.

  5. Lorraine in Spring says:

We voted around 3:30pm Monday in The Woodlands. Holy smokes! That was the oldest bunch of poll workers I ever saw in my life. Most of them were in their 80’s. I overheard some workers saying it’s been as steady as 2012 but, who knows?

Dan Patrick, with his “Secure The Border” signs dominated the entire block. I only saw one Wendy Davis sign, but the Tea People were out in force. In the parking lot, one guy started towards me to hand out a “Tea Party Approved” list of who to vote for. I can’t repeat what I told him due to The Momma Rule, but he never got close enough to hand me anything.

All that took less than 20 minutes.

Now get out and vote, or you’ll have to answer to Momma.

  6. Voted yesterday, dropped it off at ballot box. We’re on a vote by mail ballot this year in CO. You do have the option to vote at City Halls however. I sure hope we keep CO blue.

  7. Am old and have learned much but in no way does that make me wise. Sometimes I notice things such as when the Dems in my area finally computerized their lists. Things went way much better for them vote wise, plus it was suddenly fun and a pleasure to volunteer. The GOP in our area took forever to catch up and they still aren’t anywhere near the data and technology the Dems have. Also noticed the GOP pollsters are still contacting folks with only landlines. These folks tend to be over a certain age and would rather eat ground glass than go mod with a cell phone. Any polls based solely on landline polling and show a heavy GOP declaration for one candidate should be considered as skewed. The Dems found a mortal lock on younger, more liberal voters by calling their cell phones and even contacting them via internet in 2008 and 2012. And guess what? I am still trying to find polls that are exactly alike in outcome! So GO THE HECK VOTE!!!

    7
  8. Echoing the above plus the sainted LBJ, vote early and vote often!

    8
  9. HollyAnna says:

Just voted and it felt so good! Dems here in downstate IL don’t put up many candidates for local offices, though. Need to work to change that…

    9
  10. VOTED! Doing our part to turn Georgia BLUE!

  11. Marge Wood says:

This morning i watched Joaquin Castro with Jon Stewart. Last night at supper we were talking about whether or not Stewart would have Abbott but figured maybe he wouldn’t. Well, Jon invited all the GOP bigwigs in Texas and nobody took him up on it. Matter of fact, most of them ignored him which I can’t imagine anyone doing. Ignore Jon Stewart? How’d they do that?

    11
  12. publius bolonius says:

    @Lorraine
I received a GOP mailer last week telling me who to vote for. I found it quite convenient especially in the down-ticket races no one knows much about, like Conservation District Boardmember. I figured if the GOP wanted them – I didn’t. And Yes on 2 – medical marijuana.

    12
  13. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Marge Wood, the king of bloviating, Bilge O’Lielly, can’t hold his own with Jon. Abbott and Patrick wouldn’t last a second. Even idiots have a survival instinct. Wonder if the dumber than average idiot Loopy Louie would accept an invitation from Jon?

Would be great, if Juan and/or Joaquin Castro became Senators from the great state of Texas.

Owe Mrs. B. a bottle of her favorite for guarding those ballots. Thank you to all the volunteers in Texas keeping your elections honest.

Other states are not so lucky. Purged voter rolls, GOP shenanigans committing voter fraud, dirty tricks and everything else these criminals projected onto others.

  14. Don A in Pennsyltucky says:

We have none of that fancified early voting here in Pennsyltucky — but at least we don’t have to show pictures of ourselves. If we did, I would consider shaving on the morning of election day so I wouldn’t look a darn thing like any picture taken since 1985 and defy them to prove that I’m not the person on that ID.

    On another, totally unrelated subject…
I have been reading elsewhere about a man named Max Soffar who is on death row and will almost certainly be dead long before they get him to the point where they replace the weak poison of chemo with the stronger poison they use in Huntsville. There is a movement to request Gov. Perry to let him die at home instead of behind bars. I predict it will go nowhere. Even if the Gov had the authority to do that (and I don’t think he does) Ick would certainly take the position that the man was sentenced to die and that he’s not leaving state custody until he dies. Does anyone else think that Max will be allowed to leave?

    14
  15. Well,

I’ll be more than happy to vote on election day. The lines in my precinct aren’t bad.

    15
  16. gabberflasted says:

I always vote on Election Day. I realy enjoy asking for that Democrat Ballot. Them ‘ Ol’ Blue Haired Ladies” like to have a conniption fit. And yes, I can refer to Ol’ Blue Haired because I am 75 and could use some bluing my ownself. But, I find that a little much.

    16
  17. Washington State votes by mail, so we voted on Sunday evening. I was forced to vote for the GOP candidate running to fill the seat of our retiring congressvarmint. The other candidate is backed by freedomworks, believes our children don’t need higher education, Democrats can’t be Christians, and is proud of his endorsement by — wait for it! — Louie Gohmert. Really. I’m scared to death that he may win, and my blood pressure is up a yard and a half. For Heaven’s sake, vote Blue! I would if I could.

    17
  18. Lorraine in Spring says:

    @publius bolonius

Most of our local positions were unopposed Rs though several offered a Libertarian or Green Party option. In those I voted Green just to oppose the Repubs.

    18
  19. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Rubymay, you deserve a huge hug! Your state isn’t the only state that needs to groom good candidates. But given the idiot versus the barely tolerable, you did well to vote and protect the interests of WA as best you could.

If a 2016 HRC vs another $Romulan run or worse, another Bush choice is what it is, will hold my nose and vote for the lesser of the evils.

Really hope the GOP is fully imploded by 2020. Then it will be Green/Progressives and Democrats, the choices we deserve.

    19
  20. e platypus onion says:

Why would Patrick need secure the border signs? According to Gay Perry(not the one in France) he secured the border already. Patrick must not be coordinating with Perry’s trainwreck of a campaign.

    20
  21. Polite Kool Marxist says:

e platypus onion, is Fifi Le Pew Perry still in Europe or points unknown? Perry is probably terrified of Alfredo’s research and accounting skills. If he thinks he can be overseas air dropped a ton of Koch cash to smuggle back into his campaign coffers, he’s grossly underestimating Alfredo and Juanita Jean.

    21
  22. Alacrity Fitzhughe says:

Governor “Good Hair” is due in court on Friday (Halloween).
Something about two Felony counts against him.

    Just Saying……

    22
  23. Lorraine in Spring, we have a local Dem opposed by a Green or Family or Hailfellowellmet or some such party. (The guy used to be an R but there’s no winning here with that behind your name.) Actually, most signs around these parts give no indication of party affiliation. There are huge signs saying “Worst state in the nation, vote Republican” but folks around here are smart enough to spot hyperbole when they see it.

Waiting til Tuesday to vote straight D, with ID in hand

    23
  24. No early voting in NY. I wish we fined people who were registered and don’t vote, but that’s too much to ask in a free country. Unfortunately, Independents and Democrats often sit out elections. That’s how so many rightwing nutjobs get elected, to all kinds of office.

    24
  25. e platypus onion says:

Ms Zyx-I’m waltzing into my courthouse on election day and saving the world from a raft of wingnuts and I don’t care if all the wingnuts present disapprove. iowa must be for Dems.

    25
  26. texas coastie says:

Well, the Galveston Repubs have taken their activities to a new low. Just out of limits at the early voting location, and on county property, the Young Republicans were offering hotdogs as incentive to throw darts at facial photos of Judge Susan Criss, President Barack Obama, and Senator Wendy Davis.

Of course, no campaign would be a real Texas campaign without a littlle sign war or two. Here we have the minions of incumbent Repub county judge Mark Henry and commissioner Ken Clark blocking Independent challenger Bill Young’s signs with their own.

    And

Oh, did we mention ballot misprints? Bill Young’s Independent designator was mysteriously left off the ballot, causing reprint costs. Hmmm, very strange, indeed! And why did it take so long for Bill Young to be certified as a candidate?

So, my friends, those pesky Republicans continue with a few more antics of their own. Ahhh, ain’t freedom grand!?

By the way, the man who puts bad jet fuel into military aircraft, causing flameouts, should be run out of town on a rail. Talk about F R A U D! That’s his middle name!

    http://www.guidrynews.com/story.aspx?id=1000030139

This is the same man, Mark Henry, whose way of saving the county money is to service the portapotties only once a week where there are locations (Rollover Pass in Gilchrist) that have a thousand people attending on weekends.

Galveston deserves better than this. Choose wisely.

(Pssst! Galveston Dems endorse Bill Young!)

  27. I love voting! The first time was 1972 when I voted for a very good man, George McGovern. I was right and most of the country was proven wrong Wrong WRONG!

It is insanely wonderful to be living in a liberal state, MN, after 50 years in hyper-corrupt and brick red South Dakota.
