Heads Up – Time Sensitive

Emergency Call to Stand Against Trump’s Muslim and Refugee Bans

Last week, Trump signed an Executive Order halting all refugee admissions and barring people from many predominantly Muslim countries from entering the United States. This vicious, hateful Executive Order undermines everything that America stands for. But remember, Trump’s agenda doesn’t depend on Trump—it depends on YOUR members of Congress rubber-stamping it.

To explain how you can resist, Indivisible is co-hosting a big planning call with Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAAJ), American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP), and National Immigration Law Center (NILC) TONIGHT (Monday) at 9pm (ET) / 6pm (PST).

  1. Can’t do it unless I know the maximum amount the “additional rates” are. If $5 or less, I’m in! I need to be able to afford sign material.

  4. Please, Ms Juanita,
Can you ask your lawyer-type friends if we could sue The Republican Party for failure to properly screen/vet Mr Trump?
Can we sue them for unleashing a threat to the American people? Inquiring minds dare to ask.

thanks for this, JJ. I’m in.

Just another note: Egypt and Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and the Union of Arab Emerates were the nations from which the 9/11 attackers came. Any of those included in the ban? Um, no. Which of those four include places where Trump has or wishes to erect hotels? Why, that would be all of them.

Raise your hand if you’re surprised.

**sitting on my hands right now** thus demonstrating how skilled I am at typing. Look Momma! No hands!

The Obama administration official serving as acting chief of the Justice Department has instructed lawyers there not to defend President Donald Trump’s executive order restricting immigration in the name of national security.

Acting Attorney General Sally Yates, who was the No. 2 official at the department before Trump’s swearing-in and has been running the department since that time, sent a memo saying she doubts the wisdom and the legality of the directive.

“My responsibility is to ensure that the position of the Department of Justice is not only legally defensible, but is informed by our best view of what the law is after consideration of all the facts. In addition, I am responsible for ensuring that the positions we take in court remain consistent with this institution’s solemn obligation to always seek justice and stand for what is right,” Yates wrote in a memo released by the department. “At present, I am not convinced that the defense of the Executive Order is consistent with these responsibilities nor am I convinced that the Executive Order is lawful.”

The memo clearly puts Yates at risk of being fired by Trump, who has that authority. However, that could disrupt other department operations, including surveillance aimed at suspected terrorists.

Yates’ order leaves the government with no authorized courtroom representation in several lawsuits and dozens of other court actions challenging Trump’s order and the way it was carried out by immigration authorities.

Next up: LGBTQA. Rumor has it an EO is in draft form to deny employment protections, adoption, etc. And, of course will follow the legal challenges, blah, blah, blah. Yeah, folks. Your tax dollars at work.

No matter what happens, I hope this place and others will refer ro this maniac as REPUBLICAN President Trump, just to remind everyone where this maniac came from.

Now, allow me to be a butthole for second. Trump doesn’t give a damn about terrorism. He’s PO’d that those incredibly wealthy Arabs won’t lend him money or allow him to build in their countries. All else is a smokescreen.

And yet one of my best friends thinks we aren’t giving Trump enough of a chance. I think we will come to blows if we discuss it any more, so that’s that.
