Heads Up

November 06, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Guys, I am going to be working on the ballot board all day today keeping our county’s ballot by mail program safe and fun.

So, here’s a couple of things:

Outsmart Time!  Enjoy!  You can comment here or over there.

Later this week once everything is set up properly, I will ask you to donate to the Juanita Jean/Glen Maxey Ballot By Mail program again this year.  I am targeting the small counties along the coast who got hit by Harvey the worst.  Many folks don’t have a permanent home yet, so tracking them down so they can vote is vitally important.  Plus, these counties are where most of the Republicans in Congress and the State House you love to hate are running, so you’re getting double your money’s worth. After those are covered, we will start with all the other small counties in Texas who need help with the expense.  Y’all have never let me down and it’s more important than ever this year.  Remember that ballot by mail applications are god for a year in Texas.

I’m telling you all this now so you can go start collecting all the quarters from your sock drawer and behind the washing machine.

If you know anyone in Texas who is free this weekend, they might enjoy this.  Glen and I will be in Bell County to help them raise money for their ballot by mail program.  You can get tickets here.

Entertain yourselves and I’ll check in at lunch and any breaks we have.

Be social and share!

  1. Completely off topic, but was Glen’s mom a high-school history teacher? he sure looks like the wonderful Mrs Maxey, who taught me US history …

Are you becoming the reincarnation of Molly Ivins? Sure looks like it to me!

Thanks for all you do for democracy in Texas and beyond.

    I will contribute.

  5. Hey JJ,

I don’t know how this program works, but I have been wondering lately about ballot access for homeless. I live in central Austin, near all the homeless services downtown, and there are sure a lot of disenfranchised Americans in that population.

Do you think the same style program could help them, or is that a different challenge?

  8. @ JJ
    Many thanks!
I also want to contribute to BBM.

  9. I have contributed several times to those who tell me that if the Republican candidate for governor wins across the river in Virginia, the earth will crack open and the Whore of Babylon will appear riding upon the 7-headed Beast marked with the Sign of 666 and carry all of us off to the Lake of Fire for all eternity, or something like that, but I’ll look between the sofa cushions for any quarters that aren’t lost in the cat fur.

  10. Rhea, you think you are kidding? ;-}
My across the street neighbor who has been attending Bible study twice a week for years believes Trump is the anti Christ and the Rapture is close enough for her to go up.

  11. Crone, I’m impressed that anyone who has been attending Bible study class thinks that *Trump* is the one who’s the AntiChrist and not Obama or Hillary Clinton or some other Dem or lefty.

Personally I think the only explanation for the Book of Revelation is that there were some wicked good shrooms growing on the isle of Patmos, or maybe some of those toads that it’s not a real good idea to lick if you want to keep at least one foot on planet Earth. They may be gone now, mind you….

Well, aren’t the pair of you cuter than a bug’s ears! Adorable couple – good thing Bubba’s not the jealous type.
