He Keeps Turning Up Like a Bad Penny

September 18, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Texas Governor Greg Abbott is naming new senior advisers.  The Texas Tribune did a story about it and somehow neglected to mention that one of new hires, John Colyandro, plead guilty to accepting illegal political contributions.

Yeah, this is the same John Colyandro of Tom DeLay fame, who was indicted for accepting illegal corporate donations and for illegally laundering $190,000 in corporate funds through the Republican National State Elections Committee; money that later wound up in the hands of Texas Republican candidates.  He was also indicted on 13 counts of unlawful acceptance of a corporate political contribution.

He plead guilty to the lesser charge of accepting illegal campaign contributions.  He got 2 years probation on two Class A misdemeanors and an $8,000 fine.

  1. Lie down with dogs … son of a b**** is a dog, right? So, Greg must like fleas What unholy tricks are they cooking up now? Something to do with more money for Rethugs and less voting for Dems would be my guess.

  2. I’ve only lived in Texas since Dec. 2015 . . . is this sort of thing normal here? Damn. Wow.

  3. Marc, you must not have been following Juanita Jean very long if you are asking that.

  4. Robin Frazier says:

The Tx Repug Party is a RICO operation.

Marc… AK Lynne is right. On a slow night prowl through the archives listed on the left. You’ll have a ball and maybe a bawl every once in a while. There’s some good stuff there.

Now… I have a question. What’s up with the “advisor” routine? Does A-butt not know Texas and Texas government/politics? I believe TX has quite a few excellent universities chock full of experts in their field. They would be my go to “advisors”. But, of course I’m a Democrat so… And I’m pretty certain none of them have a criminal record.

  6. OT, But DAYUM that was quick!
Hurricane Maria now at a Category 4 storm force level.
IMO (duly considered), Hurricane Maria could be up to Cat 5 by midnight as it chews up the Caribbean (another one).

Sumovabeech, this is getting feeoking crazee.
I’ve seen what Cat 4 Harvey did to Rockport, TX.
Getting hit by TWO Cat 4/5’s in couple of weeks is unimaginable.
There won’t be a building, tree, or even pavement left, and all the boats sunk too (there were chingos of them down there, one of the most popular places in the world for boats of all kinds; mega-millions of $$$$ worth).

Hurricane Maria Intensifies to a Major Hurricane – Update: Now Category 4

  7. JAKvirginia: Even repugnantcans can learn from their mistakes. According to Wikipedia, Colyandro received deferred adjudication and one year of unsupervised probation for the lesser charges he plead to, and has advised Abbott when he was A.G. Sounds like this douchebag has never even missed a paycheck. So he’s been paid all this time to figure out how to not get caught next time. I’m just surprised he’s not a current Trump cabinet member.

  8. Meanwhile any one who has ever been railroaded on a trumped up marijuana charge, no matter the amount, is either in jail or banned from Gov. work and benefits forever.
While this little piggy is back to feeding at the trough.

  9. Robin Frazier, SD’s snacilbuper are a RICO scam too. Sickening.

  10. Amazing, isn’t it, the way scum keeps rising to the surface and sticking around. Abramoff is out of jail and back in plain sight. Repentant? I honestly think not.

  11. Pled. Pled guilty. Not plead. Pleaded=pled. Ask a proofreader. Normally, I wouldn’t mention it, but I have a feeling it will come in handy in the months ahead.
