Grover and the Guitar

June 26, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Grover Norquist, the man who said, “I don’t want to abolish government. I simply want to reduce it to the size where I can drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub,” has taken a liking to Twitter.

Grover hates taxes and to illustrate that point, he tweet a tale of woe about his daughter.

So … as happens on Twitter, people tweeted back …

And the best of all …

Thanks to Mark for the heads up.

Karma always shows up just when we need her. Never get in a Twitter war with smart people.

  2. It’s possible Grover’s daughter learned a lesson that day in the guitar store.
It’s doubtful Grover subsequently learned anything on Twitter.

  3. Grover Norquist is a whiny knob. And yes, what Johnny McNulty said about disappointing a child to teach her that gubmint is evil.

    3
  4. I wish Grover would lose enough fat that we could drag HIM to a bathroom and drown him in the bathtub.

He isn’t at the very top of my “better dead” list, but he is in the top 100.

  5. Damn Liberals, always getting in the way of my self centered Greed and Hate.

Lol this perfectly illustrates my point on how easy, beneficial and positive it is to run on Progressive Principles.

Grover the Grouch has an 8 year old daughter? Granddaughter maybe?

News flash Grovie, I don’t like seditious types like you who have lawmakers sign your pledge or the lawmakers who sign it. By definition of office their loyalty belongs to the people who voted for them and the rules of the office, not you.

Don’t y’all ever forget that “sales taxes” are the Rescummies favorite go-to tax vehicle when they absolutely must raise gubmint revanoo.

They are just smart enough to know that those sales taxes are about the most regressive tax of all, and fall much heavier on the “little people” classes of low to middle working stiffs who spend out a much higher proportion of their incomes, and then get hammered with those sales taxes.
And they know very well that state and local govs, faced with declining Federal assistance, will also raise not only sales taxes, but also fees and other things. (y’all may not know it, but, in Texas for instance, registering one’s yacht is getting outrageous, except that the really big ones have a much lower proportional fee for some reason)

Whereas taxes such as those on income and investments, etc., if structured progressively, would rake the upper earners much more.
As a matter of fact, probably 80% or more of Rethug tax efforts and policy is designed to transfer taxes that bite higher income groups (especially the 10%’ers+) away from them, and pile the tax burden onto the low and middle earner groups.

  8. Grover went into a battle of wits only half armed

  9. My condolences to the little girl. A solid whack across Grover’s backside with a 2 x 4 for deliberately contributing to her hurt. Grpver, in case you still don’t get it, what you did qualifies as child abuse, not a lesson in “big gubmint”. Now brush you teeth, putt on your jammies and promise God you will never do that again.

  10. (speaking as a guitarist and occasional teacher)
I’d hate to know what sort of guitar the little girl was able to get for $35. Greedy Grover can afford to buy his daughter a decent instrument. If he doesn’t want to plop down a few hundred without knowing she’ll stick with it, music shops rent instruments for just this reason. I hope she grows up to be a democrat, just to spite the sob.

This story is pure unadulterated bs.

If that story is true, which I doubt, I’m sure that Grover’s daughter learned something that day: Dad’s a jerk. Not much has changed with him since then.

  13. Old Fart says:

It makes one wonder, do people remember why Government exists in the first place?

Hint: To do what is required for the common good.

It is easy to forget just how omnipresent that shared expenditure is, but all of those shared constructs were *built*. They didn’t figure out how God grows asphalt or learned where to plant buildings to take advantage of sewage system formations.

    13
  14. Just a little question: why do GOPers want to tax services, haircuts, plumbers, etc. Services that are hard to monitor but stock market transaction are not taxed?

Taxing personal services is hard, in NYC the first question by locksmith is you need a receipt and the second is cash or check/plastic.

So this means that the typical Norquist-style Republican equals an 8 year old with no understanding of socio-economics?

  16. Me in 1973 knew sales tax could raise the price on the Schwin bicycle I wanted to buy. Picking berries in Cali I finally earned enough to get it, figured in the sales tax and proceeded to buy the yellow 10 speed in my dreams.
Grover needs a class in parenting –

    16
  17. Even worse, according to a D.C.-based friend he apparently sends his daughter to public school. So he’s happy to use public services, just doesn’t want to pay for them.

    17
  18. How a Democrat is born: Someone sees suffering and wants to end it. I want to believe Grover’s daughter is that kind of person. We all know that he isn’t.

  19. e platypus onion says:

No wonder wingnut kids get knocked up so often-Dad didn’t explain to her the facts of life about having to pay taxes.

Even more surprising is the fact someone would want to knock knees with Grover to produce dhildren

  20. Lunargent says:

I encourage you all to personally peruse this Twitter thread, if you haven’t already done so. As of yesterday, it had over 1,600 responses. Norquist got so thoroughly PWNed that even I was satisfied. EPIC and hilarious.

  21. Coprolite says:

My hope is that that young lady learns the guitar and learns to play 1960’s protest songs like music from Dylan, Peter Paul and Mary, Woody and Arlo Guthrie, Pete Seeger and something from Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.
