Good On Her

August 30, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

She’s a damn fine woman.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will become the first Supreme Court member to conduct a same-sex marriage ceremony Saturday when she officiates at the Washington wedding of Kennedy Center President Michael M. Kaiser.

The gala wedding of Kaiser and economist John Roberts at the performing arts center brings together the nation’s highest court and the capital’s high society and will mark a new milepost in recognition of same-sex unions.

And of note:

It is not uncommon for Supreme Court justices to officiate at weddings, most often for former law clerks or close friends or relatives. Ginsburg tied the knot for her son, for instance. Justice Clarence Thomas performed a ceremony for radio host Rush Limbaugh.

Yes, that majestic monument to family values and the sanctity of marriage, Rush Limbaugh.  To be honest, Thomas and Limbaugh are the perfect match.

Ginsberg got the classier gig.

Be social and share!

  1. I wish I hadn’t read that last part just after eating dinner. I feel quite ill.

But yay once again for Justice Ginsburg!

  2. Ha! This is gonna be great! Fat Tony is real fan of the Washington Opera, which is Kaiser’s doing. HAHAHAHAHA!

    2
  3. Can she keep a … ere… uh… ahh… “straight” face when one of the grooms is named John Roberts?

  4. Larry McLaughlin says:

Shame it isn’t her boss, John Roberts.

I didn’t think my opinion of “Justice” Thomas could get any lower; I thought it had hit rock bottom. Must be sliding off the continental shelf into the depths of depravity. George H.W. Bush’s cruelest joke on the nation.

  6. Good going, Justice Ginsburg!

As for Rushie Tushie, I am surprised that he could not get Scalia or one of the other conservatives on the Court to do the honors and had to settle for Thomas.

  7. mike from iowa says:

The sad reality is Thomas helped Limpaw tie the knot while in reciprocity,Limpaw would cajole his listeners to tie the knot for a lynching. Thomas is too stoopid to figure this out.

  8. I love Justice Ginsburg, I hope she stays well and serves for at least another ten years!

There are some Democrats starting to whine about Justice Ginsburg needing to retire, so that Obama can appoint a more-or-less liberal replacement for her in a timely fashion. I say, to hell with that. Justice Ginsburg is exactly where we need her, and I hope we have her on the bench for years and years to come. We need Scalia off the Court a hell of a lot more than we need Ginsburg.

    9
  10. Justice Ginsburg is a class act.

LOLOL over the Roberts irony! What fun 😀 LOVE Justice Ginsburg!

  12. I love this lady.

I just knew, when I clicked on the huffington link about a SCOTUS Justice officiating at a same-sex marriage ceremony, that it was going to be her – and it was.

    She is a national treasure.

  13. Made me so happy to see this!

  14. This made my day. I will say that the wingnutosphere did get it correct about the slippery slope on gay rights. Give them an inch and pretty soon you have to treat “them” just like human beings and American citizens. I hope Scalia gets an ulcer over this one. It is a pleasure to refer to Justice Ginsburg as “Her Honor.”

  15. Bud Malone says:

Thomas officiates for Limbaugh. Which Limbaugh wedding was that? What number?

    15
  16. The other good news recently is that the IRS is going to treat married couples as married, gays included, nationwide. Doesn’t matter what state they live in as long as they got married in a state where it’s legal. And the same for the Veterans Administration.

How long can we go on with people playing marriage hopscotch from state to state? It’s got to be settled nationally, as interracial marriage was.

Thomas officiated at Limbaugh’s third marriage, which ended pretty rapidly–he is now on his fourth wife. Wanna bet this officiating gig ends up with much better results?

  18. Sam in Kyle says:

Would Limbaugh’s nuptials prove that whole human marrying animals thing Santorum was warning about?

    18
  19. Oh, my Goodness, Sam in Kyle! I thought that was all so inane at the time, but now I see the connection. Thanks for pointing that out. I must have missed the headline at the time, “Woman Marries Pig.”

    19
  20. @Rubymay – I thought it was Woman Marries Jacka$$

  21. Corinne Sabo says:

Did Scalia attend? He could have been the something borrowed (from rightwing idiocy).

    21
  22. Did you say Clarence Thomas married Rush Limbaugh?! Well, at least they didn’t ruin two other couples.
