Fun With Guns: Political Consultant Weirdness Edition

July 12, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Okay, so somedamnbody went on a shooting spree in Austin.  It included a homicide on Monday and 4 different shootings yesterday afternoon.

Austin police on Thursday identified the man they believe was responsible for a homicide on Monday and a string of shootings in South Austin on Wednesday as 29-year-old Charles Curry.

And who knows who Charles Curry is?

I do.

He is a Republican political consultant who Republicans are now scampering to disassociate from.

He worked for Joe Straus, Texas House Speaker, and as an analysis for the Texas Senate.

He also worked for Joan Huffman, a Republican state senator from Houston, who is a ginormous gun supporter.  Huffman, bless her barren soul, stressed that he only worked for her from November of 2016 to May of 2017.  Duh Joan, that’s the entire legislative session.  The Texas Lege only meets once every two years starting on the second Tuesday in January and only lasts for 140 days.

Oh holy cow, Republicans, he’s making policy for Texas through the Republican Party. Own it.

  1. Okay, this is gonna be a stretch.
    Joe Straus — San Antonio
Peter Michael Curry — At one point long ago a very well respected Jurist, and also a Democrat, but probably gone on to his just rewards by now — also San Antonio

“Curry” was an Americanization of Khori. From something I’ve read I have concluded that the “Curry” family or some portion thereof, have returned to Khori as the family name. All of which leads me almost to nowhere, but to make a Trump-like point that Charles Curry may be the off-spring of Muslim immigrants.
What the hell. If Trump and Jeff Sessions can do it, so can I.

Is old Joan denying she had sex with him, or not? “I hardly knew him or her” seems to be the s’nacilbupeR preamble whenever they’ve been caught in a compromising position with one of their unsavory associates.

  3. The gun loving rePUKEians say that everyone should carry guns including mentally ill. That is everyone should carry EXCEPT at rePUKEian gatherings where guns are not allowed!!! Ya think they may know something after all!!

L.Long, the biggest purveyors of bucks to Congress varmints and fluffers of the gun manufacturers, the NRA, does not allow gun toting at their events. The hypocrisy is loud with that bunch. They don’t want any truck with their brain constipated membership bearing guns, yet expect the rest of us to tolerate looney tunes with guns in our schools, churches, supermarkets and my personal favorite, bars for those extra special “hold my beer” moments.

  5. All those snacilbupeR will just say Curry was “quiet and kept to yourself and I’m as shocked as anyone?” And of course “our thoughts and prayers” to the family and friends and my constituents and my masters, firearms manufacturers.

  6. For those reading this and not from Texas, the state constitution has a typo in the portion mentioned in this post.

It was supposed to read the Texas Lege shall meet for 2 days every 140 years.

Texas Monthly piece on Joan Huffman from 2013. I doubt she’s improved in five-ish years.

Please enjoy the link. No Walmartian images, I promise!

James Cargas +100. I do believe your read of the TX Cons. should be applied to the US House, until the rabid herd can be thinned.

Micr, once again you deliver the link and one hell of a catch phrase: “Walmartian images.” Another ironic moment – Donnie about to deliver to Walmart what Sam’s drunken incompetent heirs couldn’t.

Why is that nutcase smiling? Does he think the judge will go easy on him if he shows his winning personality? He just murdered someone! Does he think he’s going to be the new face on MAD magazine? What me worry? Alfred E. Newman he ain’t.
    Typical Repuglican.

  10. Jane & PKM says:

maryelle, thank you for raising the question about the nutcase’s visage. I was between breaking out into a chorus of That Face and doing a google search as to the face he conjectures. Without busting any effort, the best I can reconnoiter would be Charlie Sheen minus the intelligence and humor.

Or, in simpler terms – dopey.
“did you ever hear such dopey names?”
“she was under sedation and a bit dopey”

or, in the Jeff Sessions mold, diminutive of stature and flat out dopey, as in st00pid.

Statesman reports that, shortly before one shooting, Curry tried to buy a silencer while visiting a gun range. The owner declined the sale because of Curry’s suspicious nature. Curry then left and shot a victim in the head.
