Fun With Guns: It’s The Happenin’ Thing Edition

If you live in Easton, Massachusetts, you need to learn to duck.

A man trying out a new gun holster accidentally fired his weapon and injured himself Tuesday night, police said.

The victim said he was “breaking in a new holster,” when he shot his Sig Sauer P226 9 millimeter handgun, Sullivan said.

The man has an active license to carry a firearm issued by Easton police and will not be charged, Sullivan said.

The man is expected to live but the condition of the holster is unknown.  I suspect it’s sitting on the floor in the corner going “hehehehehehe, got cha!”

It is the second recent attack gun incident in this town of 23,000 overarmed souls.

In April, a passenger accidentally shot the driver of his vehicle while the two men were driving down Route 138 coming from Stoughton.

“The passenger wanted to make sure it was secure and he accidentally fired a round,” Sgt. Daniel O’Reilly, at the time of the incident.

He said the men are friends and both have permits to carry guns.

I suspect “Remember that time you shot me?” will cover the bar tab from now on.

Thanks to Irene for the heads up.

Ya know, when people are being scanned at airport security, we should be going for a two-fer. Besides looking for WMDs in their underwear, they should be taking a quick look in the cranium to see if the passenger has shit for brains. They could be eliminated right then and there. I’m just sayin’.

You don’t have to pass an IQ test to get a gun permit.

Good Grief! What I don’t understand is why does an idiot like this get to keep gun and carry permit. The guns and permit should be taken away since it seems obvious he doesn’t know how to handle it safely.

Here in Fl it’s easier to get a carry permit than it is to register to vote and get a driver’s liscense and that is just not right. The gun permit is also considered an ID so many people who have lost their drivers license have concealed carry permits, it’s sadf and pitiful as well as stupidly dangerous. Just sayin

Just more propaganda for the NRA to loudly cackle-“See.guns don’t kill people. They just wound them.”

In Florida, wingnuts make it easy to get a permit for wingnuts to carry to protect the rights of whites only to vote. Stand your ground in front of polling stations and chase libbies away.

  6. Why must they carry loaded weapons with one in the chamber?
These numbnuts are afraid to travel to the bathroom without being locked and loaded. These shootings are not accidents, but deliberate choices by the gun owner.

  7. Pity the gunshot wound was only to his leg, unless “leg” is a euphemism for someplace adjacent that might qualify him for a Category 2 Darwin Award (rendering yourself incapable of breeding).

  8. Why do these idiots carry with a round chambered? Why do they get to keep their carry permits when they have shown they are not responsible?

Ah! I guess that Alabama is imitating Florida on the photo ID for voting. Alabama is closing all but 4 (currently something like 39) of their drivers’ license offices even though they require photo IDs for voting. I just looked. Alabama has a long string of okay photo IDs for voting and gun IDs is not one of them. They include tribal IDs. But you gotta go halfway across the state in Alabama to get a driver’s license? Hmm, what other state does this sound like? Hint: the big one where guys want to carry big ol’ guns to the grocery store.

Marge Wood,Wisconsin closed down drivers license stations in minority heavy populated areas a couple years ago,but was forced to re-open them. It was a blatant outright attempt to keep minorities from getting needed free ids that the state was charging,I believe it was,$28 for.

  11. Frankly, a buddy or a “bro” AD with wounding sounds like some kind of male bonding ritual!

  12. I’ve had it with the NRA.

I’ve also had it with states erecting ever-higher hurdles to registering to vote. Check with your friends, families, neighbors, and colleagues. Someone among them may need your help, be it a small cash loan (or gift), a ride to the DMV and back, a ride to the polls, or your internet skills to find needed documents.

I know people are talking about how all-important 2016 is. Well, guess what! EVERY election counts, every year. Register and vote in every primary and every general, every year.

  13. “He said the men are friends…” Should that perhaps be “WERE” friends? If one of my friends was in the habit of carting around a loaded weapon and had already shot me once, I’m afraid that any remaining friendship would have to be conducted by email or phone. Luckily, none of my friends carry guns.

  14. I’m so glad PA elected Tom Wolf, our Democratic governor.
He has just established online voter registration, which can be done from home, a library or a mobile phone! And the voter ID law was struck down by a fair-minded Democratic superior court judge. I’m hoping for eventual on-line voting, with proper safeguards of course.
