  1. I really wish someone would create that Camp Bone Spurs banner and send it to the troops. They would at least get a laugh or two before the brass made them take it down.

A picture of it would go viral!

Off topic, but isn’t the trumpy bear flag blanket disrespectful of the flag?

  2. As much as I warmly regard Obama, calling the Affordable Care Act by it’s name is a better idea than Obamacare. It’s much easier to dismiss a “vanity piece” legislation, as opposed to what it is: An attempt to deliver affordable healthcare to all.

So please, as much as I like to see Obama’s name, use ACA…

  3. Linda Phipps says:

Cartoon #3 says foreign leaders never come to OUR memorials: Au Contraire mon fou, the French embassy did send people to Arlington.

  4. Mike, in the tradition of the international Baby Diaper Donnie inflatable that has been flown in Great Britain, USA, and France, your proposal for a Camp Bone Spurs banner needs to go airborne and viral. Bumper sticker versions with donations to support the troops, a large dirigible to fly over Mara-duh-Hole, and a BIGLY banner to adorn the WH fence.

  5. Jane&PKM:

I’m not on facebook or any other social media so have at it (the idea). If it takes hold then maybe we’ll all get a laugh!

I’ll research bumper stickers and I’ll let J.J. know what I find.

  6. RE: “Camp Bone Spurs”–
There actually is a new ‘temporary’ military camp (Base Camp Donna) that has been established near the Military Highway (US 281), and TX FM 493 (the Donna Road), south of Donna, TX.
Apparently the main Rio Grande Valley military ‘support’ facility of that “Operation Faithful Patriot” boondoggle (we really need a better word for this bullshit in the Trump era).
It’s called “Base Camp Donna”, located on farmland next to the new Donna-Rio Bravo International Bridge. Lots of new growth around here too, used to be just farm and brush land for many miles around.

See the newspaper story link below (from the McAllen Monitor), and Bing it (not Google for gawds sake) for many more writeups (NYT, etc).
The Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge is just a couple miles east of this location, also between the river and US 281.
That ‘Trumpy border fence’ is really screwing with the local wildlife, like the few ocelots and other species (jaguarundis) left in S. TX.

I used to sometimes work in Donna, when the population was about 7-8K, a nice little town with some real good TexMex restaurants. One of my own former hometowns is just a few miles away.

This Base Camp Donna is located near a little wide spot on US 281 that had a very small school, called Runn, TX. I see that this school has grown very much per the aerial map.
I used to drive this highway frequently, it was often the best route for getting to Hidalgo, parts of Pharr, McAllen, Mission, Brownsville, etc., from my home. US 281 could be a fun drive, lots of curves, fast; but on deepnights you could sometimes come across some smuggling ops, and lots of Border Patrol.

It was/is mostly farmland, growing y’alls melons, onions, carrots, other veggies, etc for sale in your supermarkets.
Most of this farmland was controlled by Othal Brands’ farming companies. Brand was a former long-time mayor of McAllen, TX, and one of the most powerful men in South Texas (and with many Mexican connections, farms, etc).

At this Wiki link, use the mapping link (the Lat-Long link at upper right) to pull up a Bing map of the Donna area. Then pan it south down FM 493 a few miles (6-7mi), all the way to US 281 and the Rio Grande (which is very close to US 281 there). Then switch from ‘road map’ to an aerial view:

Runn, TX (the correct spelling from the highway sign I drove by a million times):

  7. First have to give new Rep’s kudos for not just sitting down and letting loser thuglicrats tell them what to do.
in specific Ocasio- Cortez taking on the old bull(sh—–) Pallone over special committee on Climate Change.
    Good on her.
Next it is time for the new progressives in congress to take control of the party apparatus/ checkbook. In specific the DCCC and the DSCC.
Time to ashcan rahm’s thuglicrat acolytes and ensure that progressive candidates don’t have to fight both the thuglicans and the d party apparatus
