  1. Last one nailed it! ALL of the current Dem leadership needs to go – no exceptions.

Linda, I have been on vacation and was often without wifi. It was glorious. I’m home and unpacking today. I will put up a Christmas tree tomorrow and go grocery shopping. I’ll probably sleep all day Sunday and come back to the beauty salon on Monday.

I deeply and eternally appreciate what Primo and El Jefe did.

    4
  5. JJ, glad to know you’ve gotten some rest and came home safely. We’ve missed you, but you needed the break ! Thanks for letting Primo and El Jefe step in; they add nice work to what goes on here.

The last time Dems had control of Congress, Pelosi and Dems got a boatload of legislation passed and then came the wingnut lies about creating jobs and we’ve had
a do nothing congress ever since.

One of the two parties need be grounded in reality and it sure as shooting ain’t the wingnuts.

Dems should vote for everything the wingnuts want so as to destroy the US as fast as possible and then we can reassess the damage and start over, hopefully with some Dems with a mean streak a continent wide. We need to destroy wingnuts once and for all!

    6
  7. Oh, epo, much as I respect your opinion, I must object to your statement, “Dems should vote for everything the wingnuts want…” The resulting destruction could result in loss of life, as in loss of Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security. As a senior, I am so frightened of this turn of events now that the Rethugs have all the power. Aid for families with dependent children could disappear as well as housing for the poor. Protecting the earth and its people is not their priority and the damage done to both may be irreversible. We should fight them loudly and publicly so as to dramatize what both parties stand for.

  8. CARTOON #2 really, really spoke to me! He makes one big hit with one plant of a company with many and the other plants are still slated to cross the southern border! I guess its just too much work for him to rope in all the different plants in one bunch. Gosh! He might even break a sweat! Also wondering when someone – most likely a pro-business and nothing else Republican – who will pop up with a lawsuit based on restraint of trade where that one photo-op plant is concerned. Seriously, Trump’s gotta learn that when you build with bricks you gotta use a lot of mortar! Thin that will happen? Nahhh!

  9. Congresswoman Pelosi was a fine leader in the past, but it has allowed a complete disaster nationwide under her watch. Given the state of Governorships and state legislations nationwide, a dramatic change MUST occur. Of course most of those circumstances are *not* under her purview, but she is one of the most influential leaders in the Democratic party. Perhaps she can work to do the kind of fundamental overhaul needed, it just seems unlikely that will happen now when it has been apparent for so long.

Wingnuts couldn’t beat Dems straight up so they slandered and libeled their way into power. It still works.

I realize what will happen when wingnuts get their way. Right now Dems don’t have the cojones to resist. I for one am tired of total abdication on the part of my Democrat party.

    10
  11. epo, I too am tired of Dem capitulation, which is why I DON’T want them to “vote for everything the wingnuts want.” Not only would that do a ****load of damage to the country and the world, but why would anybody vote for a Dem if the Dems support everything the RWNJs want?

What Dems need to do is to stand up whenever the GOP wants to pass an ugly bill and say, “Hey, everybody! Look at what they want to do here!” I told Steny Hoyer at a local meeting that when the GOP made them back down by threatening to filibuster, the Dems should call their bluff and tell them to go ahead. Go to the mattresses (to use a Godfather reference) and force the fight out where people can see what’s going on. But Hoyer said that every filibuster takes up days and they couldn’t bring Congress to a halt over and over. I wonder if that wouldn’t be better than passing ugly bills, or none at all because of GOP blockage. (A Congressional enema, that’s what we need.)

Corey Lewandowski: ‘Media Took What Donald Trump Said So Literally!

Apparently so did the uneducated whites that voted for him.

    I give up!

    13
  14. I agree with Rhea. When there is good legislation (Hey! It could happen, in the world of scientific possibility, however remote the likelihood, it does exist.), Dems should support it. When it’s the crap they’ve been telling us to expect (And that’s what anything coming out of snacilbupeR world will be.), Dems should raise hell and tell the press over and over and over how much it is going to hurt every decent American . . . and the trumpelstilskins too.

    14
  15. My favorite is the unflattering photo. It’s all over the Twitterverse . . . over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Bwahahahahahaha!

  16. Mother Jones' cat says:

Maryelle- Aid for Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) was established in 1935 as part of the Social Security Act (New Deal legislation) AFDC was eliminated and replaced with Temporary Aid for Needy Families (TANF) as part of Bill Clinton’s Welfare Reform. TANF is truly temporary (3 year limit on participation no matter what the family’s situation). The number of children receiving TANF is less than one third of the number of children receiving AFDC before the 1996 Welfare Reform Act.

Old Fart and Malarky- Yes, to new blood at the DNC. And some of it needs to be young blood since it is their future, after all.

  17. WA Skeptic says:

While the competing candidate didn’t win the Pelosi position, he had a good point: D’s need to step up and fight.

That’s the good thing about our vets in the legislature; they aren’t afraid to stand up and speak up.

    17
  18. Steven Hernandez says:

Ok? I’m confused? The last cartoon talks about change. Yet you supported status quo during the primary and the election. So now you are for change? I guess I shouldn’t dwell on the fact that you were late to the party and just be happy you showed up at all?
