Drowning in Lies, Surrounded by Fake

October 14, 2017 By: El Jefe Category: Trump

As if we needed yet another example of Trump’s pathological lying, I feel compelled to bring this one up because it was easily disproved and stands as a remarkable example of the magnitude of Trump’s lies for everyone to see on national television.

Now, stay with me here; this is Renoir’s Two Sisters on the Terrace, painted in 1881 and bequeathed from the estate of Mrs. Lewis Larned (Annie Swan) Coburn to the Art Institute of Chicago in 1933.  It has been in the Institute’s permanent collection since, traveling the world, loaned to museums for exhibitions.

Now looky here; over Pence’s shoulder during a national television interview in Trump Tower shortly after the election is…wait for it…Renoir’s Two Sisters hanging right there on the wall.  How can that be?  Yes, that’s right; Trump the “billionaire” has a counterfeit painting right there in his home and shown on national television.

Likewise, nude model Melania Trump used the fake Renoir as a backdrop during a television interview with Gretta Van Susteren:

Oh, but it gets better; it gets a lot better.  Is he just ignorant enough to think he bought a masterpiece when he actually bought a fake?  Does he expect people to not know the difference?  Or just he not care?  Like so many issues surrounding the dumpster fire of the Trump administration, the answer is not that simple.  Vanity Fair reported a story about the painting this week in an interview with Tim O’Brian, who recently published TrumpNation, a biography of his orangeness.  O’Brian recalled two conversations with Trump years ago when he rode on his plane for an interview.  The fake Renoir was hanging on the wall of Trump’s plane.  He asked Trump if it was an original, to which Trump answered yes.  O’Brien corrected him that it’s not real since the actual painting is owned by the Art Institute of Chicago.  O’Brien reports that Trump simply argued that this was the original.  O’Brien dropped the subject.  More telling, the very next day when they boarded the plane again, Trump said, “You know, that’s an original Renoir”. Wisely, O’Brien chose to just let it go.

The torrent of lies that issues forth from Trump’s mouth is simply not normal.  It’s also exhausting to have to keep pointing out those lies, but it is something we must continue to do.  When the lie is so easily debunked it mandatory that we point out such outrageous falsehood.

Just like his cheating at golf, erecting fake historical markers, selling cheap Made in China clothing, and swindling partners, investors, and contractors, displaying fake paintings as original opens a window into Trump’s soul.  The problem, of course, is that when you look through that window, there is no soul to see.

Trump Disrespects Flag During Retreat

October 12, 2017 By: El Jefe Category: Trump

Yes, it was one of those You Just Can’t Make This Up moments.  Here’s Cheeto Jesus, in all of his self-aggrandized glory, spouting bullshit to Sean Hannity about how NFL football players are “disrespecting the flag and the troops” by not standing for the national anthem.  AND, he’s using an Air National Guard hangar in Pennsylvania packed with super patriot supporters as his super patriot backdrop.  But that’s not the funny part.

Here’s the funny part – At the very moment Trump is railing at Hannity, Retreat begins playing on the base loudspeakers.  Retreat is played at military bases when the flag is being lowered.  Military personnel are supposed to stand at attention, and if outdoors, salute.  Civilians are to stand silently with their hands over their hearts.  What does Trump do?  He keeps laughing and talking, even remarking, “What a nice sound that is, are they playing that for you or for me?”  Then he says, “They’re playing that in honor of his ratings,” gesturing towards Hannity. “He’s beating everybody.”  There’s a video of the disaster here.

As I said, you just can’t make this up.  Here’s the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES at a military base hurling invective at players for “disrespecting the flag” at the VERY MOMENT he’s actually disrespecting the flag while he laughs and jokes.

What an ass.

Bannon: Trump has a “30% Chance of Making a Full Term”

October 11, 2017 By: El Jefe Category: Holy Crap, Trump

Vanity Fair has just published a scathing piece about Trump saying that officials in the White House talk more and more openly about how Trump has become unhinged; has “lost a step”; is being isolated by Kelly; “hates everyone” in the White House.  There’s even talk of the Cabinet voting to remove him.

Most significant in this piece, though?  Bannon is quoted as giving Trump a “30% chance of making it a full term”.  Now, THAT is impressive.

Trump’s Razor

October 10, 2017 By: El Jefe Category: Trump

You’ve heard of Occam’s Razor, yes?  The principle is based on a theory from Franciscan friar William of Ockham, who lived in 14th Century England.  His principle is quoted as, “Entities should not be multiplied unnecessarily.”  Translated into modern language, the theory was restated to, “…when you have two competing theories that make exactly the same predictions, the simpler one is the better.”  The principle has been applied to theory for  centuries.

Welp, there’s now a theory that has been postulated, first popularized by Josh Marshall of TPM during the 2016 election.  The theory is dubbed Trump’s Razor.  The principle is this – “ascertain the stupidest possible scenario that can be reconciled with the available facts”; in other words, when Trump or his brood do or say something, the stupidest scenario that explains the statement is the true one.

Case in point (among dozens):  “…calm before the storm.”  Trump couldn’t resist shooting off his mouth during a dinner with military personnel.  He stupidly blurted out the “calm before the storm” comment, and then doubled, tripled, and quadrupled down.  Utilizing Trump’s razor, the statement was simply stupid, and he couldn’t bring himself (as usual) to back away from it.

The fact is, Rex Tillerson is correct – Trump is a fucking moron.  (Sorry, Momma) He simply has no self control; no sense of decency, no empathy.  If he thinks something, no matter how idiotic, he just blurts it out.  When cornered, and pressured to explain himself, he doubles down and says something even more stupid.

Trump’s razor is true –  a reliable tool to analyze Trump’s proclamations.  Whenever he says something, especially when it gets national attention, Trump’s razor is a correct predictor.  He’s just simply stupid and shallow.  He’s not in a 3 dimensional chess game – he’s just hoping to get two scoops of ice cream for dessert.

Pence’s Political Stunt

October 08, 2017 By: El Jefe Category: Dammit!, Sumbitches, Trump

VP Dense pulled a not-very-sophisticted political stunt today at the Indianapolis Colts game by showing up for the game, and tweeting this picture of himself with all the blah-blah-blah about standing for the soldiers, the flag, blah-blah-blah, :

As soon as the anthem was over, Dense then IMMEDIATELY left the game, tweeting this:

Then Trump immediately followed up with this tweet:

Just patriots honoring the flag, right?  Pence comes to the stadium, tweeting he’s looking forward to the Colts game, then immediately leaves, incensed that players “disrespected the flag” by daring to kneel during the national anthem.  Trump then confirmed that he’s a super patriot by instructing Pence to leave if anyone protested during the anthem.  A spontaneous display of flag loving, yes?  Well, no, not really.

NBC News’ Peter Alexander then tweeted that the press corps with Pence had been instructed to not go into the game and stay in the van, since “there may be an early departure…”.  Alexander then reported that Pence immediately went back to the airport and flew to Los Angeles for a fundraiser.

So VP Dense, in cahoots with Cheeto Jesus, wasted millions of taxpayer dollars to jet to Indianapolis just so he could stage a walkout from the Indianapolis Colts game to show his patriotism for his mouth-breathing base.

The stupid thing about this stunt was they thought they would actually fool anyone with this kind of amateur idiocy.  Except for the mouth-breathers, of course.

Moral Bankruptcy

October 08, 2017 By: El Jefe Category: Trump

One of the rising stories in the war between Trump and Tillerson has underlined the actual issue at the core of this administration – moral bankruptcy.  We all know that Trump is a complete waste of oxygen, a Grade A Shitbag, and every other pejorative one can conjure.  What is he, though, at his essence?  At his center, Trump is totally devoid of any decency or empathy and worse (if that’s even possible), he is morally bankrupt.  The case in point is the disagreement that has been simmering between Trump and Tillerson since the beginning of this train wreck; Trump’s desire to legalize bribery.

One of Trump’s core issues is a law that he wants reversed: the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.  The FCPA was passed in 1977 in an attempt for the United States to lead the world in reducing what was then blatant corruption and bribery in international business.  The law is enforced by the SEC and DOJ and has greatly reduced corruption because, under the law, business leaders are personally liable should their companies get caught paying bribes.  For years, Trump has railed against the law, calling it a “horrible law and it should be changed.” Trump says that not being able to pay bribes to foreign officials makes us uncompetitive.

Fortunately for us, but unfortunately for Tillerson, Rex disagrees with Trump.  In a White House meeting in February, Tillerson dared to do just that with Trump after he complained about the act, saying that bribery was key to success.  Tillerson stood his ground and even related a story to him about how he refused to bribe a Yemeni state official when he was CEO of Exxon.  The deal got done anyway.

What this story reveals is not only the importance of actual adults like Tillerson, Kelly, Mattis, and others to keep Trump in check, but the critical need that they do so.  Trump is the very definition of corruption.  He is so self absorbed and completely saturated by his corruption that he actually wants to weaken US policy so HE’LL make more money.  Just thinking about having this cretin at the levers of power sends cold chills down my spine.  This man is not only evil; his corruption is a cancer on our society.

This disaster can’t end soon enough; in the meantime, as much as I disagree with Tillerson on any number of policy issues, I also see his value as the last defense against Trump burning down what’s left of our republic.  He, and those like him owe it to the rest of us to stay in place until we can excise this disease from office by either criminal charges and/or resignation.
