Breaking News: Study Shows That Uneducated Republicans Are Not Very Smart

December 18, 2016 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Last week, a national poll asked over 1,000 Americans who won the national vote and who won the electoral college.

screen-shot-2016-12-18-at-3-51-50-pmRoughly a third of Americans think Trump won the popular vote.  However, the breakdown is almost exactly, okay, totally exactly what you suspected.

Respondents’ correct understanding of the popular vote depended a great deal on partisanship. A large fraction of Republicans — 52 percent — said Trump won the popular vote, compared with only 7 percent of Democrats and 24 percent of independents. Among Republicans without any college education, the share was even larger: 60 percent, compared with 37 percent of Republicans with a college degree.

Being an educated Republican helps make you smarter, but only about half the time.

Look, I know there’s “experts” out there who say I should not make fun of dumb Republicans.  There’s a difference between dumb and ignorant. Being dumb probably isn’t your fault. Being ignorant is 100% your own fault.  Well, and Fox news.

Be social and share!

  1. They inhabit their own little world as far from truth as they can get. This is not at all good for democracy when a chunk of citizens lives only in their own world of make believe.

  2. Hey, as long as your vote counts, you shouldn’t have to.

  4. A quibble about about the usage here of ignorant.
Basic dictionary – lack of knowledge and misused as “stupid”.
IMO, a more clear contrast would be when a person lacks the knowledge which does not correlate with mental ability. When offered a chance to correct a lack of knowledge and this is refused, this is now stupid/dumb.
This probably won’t simply apply to those who knowingly choose the dark side.
If anyone has a better way of defining these terms, please do so.

  5. You’re only responsible for things you choose: behavior, religion, manners, etc.

    Things like sex, race, genetics.

Not politically correct, no. Just true.

  6. This is NEWS ? I thought it was common knowledge. Decent people who vote Republicans tend to be gullible and of lower intelligence.

  7. @Ormond Otvos- I don’t know about you, but I always choose sex, so I’d add it to your first line. Wink.
Gender, I recognize is not a chosen.

(Why is the word ‘sex’ used over ‘gender’ more often than not? Must’ve been a time when the one became an action…)

  8. Not sure how this applies to this thread, but here goes anyway. There’s something that I believe most of the folks who hang out at this joint know, at least instinctively, but I don’t hear articulated very much. The main thing that conservatives have accomplished over time is getting a lot more people to believe in the most basic concepts of capitalism. That the only thing that matters is themselves and their families. Caring for or helping strangers is immoral. If you provide help to someone in need, you’re eliminating the motivation for them to help themselves, therefore actually harming them. They actually justify this stuff by pointing to “studies” showing that young children show more trust and affection to people who look more like them than someone who doesn’t. Basic human nature. To them, donating to charity is done not for an actual desire to help someone, but to get the personal satisfaction of knowing that they have helped someone. Oh well, so much for articulation.
