Billo’s Big Vacation

April 12, 2017 By: El Jefe Category: Flamethrower

Amidst sexual harassment settlements and sponsors dropping like flies, Bill O’Reilly announced last night that he’s going on a long-planned vacation. Right. Looks like, after years of spewing nonsense and lies, Billo’s meal ticket just ran out. Will he come back?  If he goes the way of Glenn Beck, the answer is no.

Even at Fox Noise, when ratings and ad revenue cease to override the downside of keeping hate spewing bigots on national television, the spewers get the bum’s rush.

In case you’ve forgotten, here’s one of Billo’s all time career highlights:

Never watched him; never listened to him. Now I know why. Good grief.

  2. Over the years it was hard not to encounter O’Reilly as he was a guest on various other TV shows, but that is as close as I ever came to him. Never was impressed. Read snippets of his gown on his own self. Could not buy into the poor little me thing he tried to pull on his readers. He was sent to a private boys school on his parents’ nickel wherein he was supposedly bullied by other very wealthy boys about his clothes. Turns out he had more than one blazer (the issue). Some of his old classmates ratted him out. Now he is doing what various politicos do when the going gets too damn tough: they resign to spend more time with the family. Him? Family? Not so much after the divorce. So off he goes into the sunset . . .

Bill’s needs to spend more time with his loofahs.

    s/Bill’s/Bill/

    Urk.

  5. Billo DOES love the F-bomb, doesn’t he?

This won’t make Faux News better or watchable or rational or anything.

    5
  6. The “Real’ Bill, everything now makes sense to me. A very violent man!

    6
  7. I’ve STILL never watched or listened to him. I don’t want to have to use the Brain Bleach. And I hope that in a month or so he’s “Bill who?”

    7
  8. Somehow not difficult picturing this guy dragging his wife down the stairs by her hair, even in front of his kids. Not hard to picture at all.

  9. I heard a rumor that BillO planned to finally follow his dream, rent a VW microbus, and follow Sting around on tour. Venue to venue. Get a diffinitive collection of “Fields of Gold” tee shirts and the like. Any truth to that?

    9
  10. But if BillO’s not there to do their thinking for them, what will the Republicans do? They depend on his certainty, his bravado, his arrogance. He’s the shepherd leading the sheep off the cliff. We can expect a huge outcry, since, by their reckoning, he’s done nothing that the president hasn’t done. And look at where that got him.
Whatever will they do if Bill’s not there to tell them what to think?

Yup … never watched Billo, never watched Faux Snooze, have no plans to do so and, hopefully, as the insects fall on the Faux set … perhaps … Faux Snooze will finally be taken off the TV altogether!!

    11
  12. That Other Jean says:

Marcia: One can only hope. Although if Faux Snooze goes off the air eventually, I hope Shep Smith can find a better job. He seems to be the only commentator there who recognizes truth and actually tells it to his audience now and then.

@Maymoon#6-I used to watch the first few minutes of his show, every so often especially when he’d refer to the talking points memo portion of his natterings in the third person as if it had become a sentient being. I knew then the blowhard would never go away unless, and until he’d committed the unpardonable sin of losing advertisers and their subsequent revenue.I watched him as the mendacious and irrational lead in to other more honest and rational commentators, like Rachel Maddow.

  14. Jane & PKM says:

The Congress varmint(s) responsible for selling a fast citizenship to Rupert Murdoch deserve a series of gohmert punches. Enabling him to circumvent FCC rules to build FOX has done irreparable damage to this country.

    14
  15. I would feel a lot better about this if it wasn’t so close to his retirement!

    15
  16. GeneB, even without Billo the Repubs have a vast supply of certainty, bravado, and arrogance. They’ve been stockpiling it for decades.

And I think the analogy is less the shepherd leading the sheep off the cliff than it is the lemmings following each other off the cliff. (Which lemmings don’t actually do, but then, they are smarter than Repubs.)

That vicious blowhard was responsible for filling my dad’s head with the most hateful spew imaginable. It became so bad that I stopped speaking to him. He was elderly and refused to watch anything else for years. Eventually he needed my care and I made sure that FOX news was never on the TV, so the hate subsided, but O’Reilly has a lot to answer for. Hope he never shows his ugly face again.

  18. I know what it’s like to be consumed by anger/fear/perfectionism.
    Thankfully I’m healthier now…
