A Lesson to Be Learned

April 15, 2015 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Look, if you’re going to be a crook, be a damn crook.  Do not go for the small stuff.  Go big or go home because you’re going to prison whether you steal $500 or $50,000.

San Antonio Criminal Court Judge Angus McGinty is going to the pokey for 2 years after admitting that he accepted bribes.

UnknownI solicited and accepted things of value from Alberto Acevedo, Jr., including vehicle repairs to my two Mercedes Benz, my 1992 Mercedes Benz 300CE and my 2001 Mercedes Benz S430. I accepted these benefits knowing that the purpose behind them was to influence me to exercise my official discretion as judge of the 144th Judicial District Court in favor of Mr. Acevedo and his clients.

A state district judge in Texas earns a base salary from the state of $140,000 a year.  The county can kick in extra.  The total value of the car repairs he took comes to about $6,600.

He’s a 51 year old Republican who will go to prison and lose his law license.  Okay, so that’s one down and a whole mess of them varmints to go.

  1. OK, this is rare! The Son of a Gun actually publicly admitted his sins! Now I know that strange sound I heard recently was hell freezing over.

  2. Well.. we have to start somewhere. Now on to jailing all of those GOPers who have entered the race for POTUS.. each one of them is a criminal of one kind or another!

He’s getting 2 years for being a crook. How many additional years for being a stoo-pid one?

  4. Judges seem to be a lot more corrupt (and political) than they used to be–at all levels.

Or maybe they’re just not as good at covering it up. It is a profession that seems to breed arrogance and entitlement. And I think that even though I won both cases I was ever involved in.

  5. Maybe this is what you get when judges are elected and run for office with all the other clowns who feel entitled.

  6. A win for the courts in San Antonio!

  7. criminals united
    buying your government
from the judges to the janitors

but let’s face it one judge is so much cheaper than a 6 pack of senators. so buy the judges 1st. ask the texas supreme court where all that money came from. well it came from criminals united. legalized by, yes, judges. people who understand the value of a “favorable” decision.

  8. Judges : Elected or APPOINTED????

Hard decision….. unless you think ….. Appointed is done by Rick Perry…… or Greg Abbott.

Elected: just a tad better. Not much…. but at least more people have a say.

It’s a crap shoot either way.

An honest Republican judge is one who, once you buy him, STAYS bought.

  10. He admitted his crimes because it was a requirement of the plea bargain. I am a loyal Democrat who has known Angus, a repub judge, professionally for at least 20 years. I met him when he was a prosecutor. I always thought he was a fair and honest person. I am not defending what he did or how this thing shook out, but I still believe there is a core of goodness in the man. Call me crazy, but the guy I knew was a fair prosecutor and what seemed to be a good judge. I am sorry for what happened to him. I think it didn’t seem like a big deal (the car repairs) and here we are. For what it’s worth, I think Angus, like a lot of judges in Bexar County, is a complete RINO. I don’t agree with what he did, but I can’t attack him personally.

Henry, I love the Beauty Shop for many reasons, and one is that it is so human.

Thank you so much, Juanita-Jean for this great site.

Thank you, Henry. I wonder sometimes….
