Caught ‘Um!

October 26, 2011 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Some species have a mating dance, others howl instinctively, Republicans cahoot.

We know they do it, but we just rarely catch them at it.  Thanks to the Texas Democratic Party, we’ve got email cahooting on record.

As you probably know, the redistricting maps drawn by our Republican state lege totally screwed Hispanics.  But there’s more.  Tom DeLay’s original redistricting plan in 2002 tried to marginalize the Democratic Party by making it the party of minorities.  He went after every white male congressman Texas had.  And, he got all but one – Lloyd Doggett.  So, this redistricting doubled down and made Doggett’s district largely Hispanic, knowing a Hispanic Democratic would jump on it.

And that’s where they got caught.

Many of the emails are to and from Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX), in regard to moving Hispanic voters into one district to make it harder for a Democratic congressman to win his district. In one email, a lawyer for Smith relates that the congressman wanted to move a neighborhood around the San Antonio Country Club from out of the Hispanic district and into his to reduce the number of white voters in the Democratic district.

So, we got Lamar Smith tap dancing on the tombstones of his own constituents.

But, it gets better.

Today, we have some news ….

There is “ample circumstantial evidence” that the congressional and state representative redistricting maps signed by Texas Gov. Rick Perry had not only the effect but the intent of limiting the voting power of Hispanic voters, Justice Department lawyers said in a court filing late Tuesday.

According to DOJ lawyers, half a million Hispanic voters in Texas lost their voting power.

To make matters even funner, there is the real possibility that Texas won’t have congressional districts by the filing deadline, which this state lege moved back to the first week in December.

Now you know why we only let the lege meet every two years and don’t pay them much.

And Speaking of Warlocks

Christine O’Donnell ain’t paying her bills.

Christine O’Donnell is in a legal dispute with a former campaign worker who claims he wasn’t paid in full.

Virginia attorney Jonathan Moseley has demanded $18,250 for work and expenses this year and in 2008 for the former Delaware Republican Senate candidate, according to a declaratory judgment complaint O’Donnell filed last week.

Dude, the eye of a newt and the toe of a frog ain’t cheap, and this is that time of year that witches work overtime.

Thanks to Alfredo over at the Dairy Queen for the heads-up.

Vicious Bachmann Rumors

I suspect you heard the rumor that Michele Bachmann’s entire New Hampshire staff resigned.

Untrue.

They were raptured.

And apparently replaced with satanic warlocks and midget oil wrestlers.

Thanks to  The Belles of Heaven Republican Women’s Club for the heads-up.

Perry’s Made a D in Economics and Then Forgot Everything He Learned

Okay, so let me get this straight:  everybody can opt to pay 20% but rich people still get capital gains, write-offs, and loopholes.  The middle class gets diddle damn squat.

Yep, that’s the Rick Perry plan.  It saves you some pesky paperwork over at HR Block but costs you out the butt.  Unless you’re rich and then YeeHaw, you ain’t paying no damn taxes after your accounts get through.

I don’t know about you but I ain’t real thrilled about putting my tax information on a postcard where everybody can see it over at the post office.  Why not just put it on a damn billboard and let IRS agents drive by and take picture of it?

And, Baby, this sucker completely eliminates the estate tax, because Paris Hilton and the Kardashians need more  money.

I have a question.  Why not just create a robber baron class and be done with it?  Seriously.

Role Playing

If this just don’t beat all.

The Tea Party Patriots, you know – as opposed to the vastly larger and much better known Tea Party Idiots – is hosting a debate in The Woodlands near Houston.

They are calling it a “modified Lincoln – Douglas debate,”  and by “modified,” they mean “just like it except the two guys are really dumb.”

It’s between Newt Gingrich and Herman Cain.  They will discuss “entitlements,” which I think doesn’t mean Tiffany charge accounts and fancy dancin’ shoes, but probably should.
