Perry Makes the Grade
No, truly, he’s bean dip dumb. Can’t be let out of the house by himself dumb.
It appears that Rick Perry started off slow and then quit peddling.
You can see his college transcripts right here.
The Huffington Post sums it up this way:
He rarely earned anything above a C in his courses — earning a C in U.S. History, a D in Shakespeare, and a D in the principles of economics. Perry got a C in gym.
Perry also did poorly on classes within his animal science major. In fall semester 1970, he received a D in veterinary anatomy, a F in a second course on organic chemistry and a C in animal breeding. He did get an A in world military systems and “Improv. of Learning” — his only two As while at A&M.
A C in animal breeding? You mean with all those sheep around ….. ?
Y’all, this is Texas A&M, where they had to rename the town of Bryan to College Station so that the college students would know where to get off the train. That’s a true story.
Thanks to Kary, Bud, Kyle , Glen, Sophie, and everybody else who isn’t on vacation.
Now you know why the folks like me up here at Commerce claim that “we’re not Aggies.
Seriously. This WAS East Texas State, Sam Rayburn’s Alma Mater, and he’s a lot easier to be proud of. Except for that one thing– you know, LBJ.
1A “C” in animal breeding? Maybe because he’s said abstinence works for him.
2Future Imams of the Caliphate of Texas will teach our children’s children’s children that the fall of Christiandom lays at the feet of an electorate that cared nothing for truth or education – as evidenced by the string of “الخفافيش القرف مجنون” (Bat-crap Crazy) Texas Republican Governors at this crucial time in our history. …Then they’ll all go back to memorizing the Qur’an.
Rick Perry doesn’t think education is important because it wasn’t for him. George Dubya, before him, blazed the trail for Texas halfwits – all the way to the White House.
Yipee-yo-kye-yay!
3@TexasTrailerParkTrash – Too bad abstinence didn’t work for Rickey’s Mom & Dad…
BTW – Ice Cream Truck = Priceless!
4Maybe his heart just wasn’t into breeding with animals… Or maybe the animal wasn’t into it. You guys need to just ease up on poor Rick Perry. Animals have their standards too! That c in animal breeding…it’s just not necessarily his fault.
5Yep, the USA needs a jump-start in the economy – so let’s get that economics D student to do it!
6Animal breeding is all sciency, what with recessive genes, spontaneous mutations, measures of milk production, meat ratios, fertility scores and whatnot.
Ol’ Ricky was a yell leader. He never has needed no freaking science stuff. And he has been hellbent on protecting Texas children from science every day of his career in politics.
7Oh, boy. I am so conflicted. My lovely brother joined the Air Force to get out of going to Viet Nam and then came back home to go to UTEP on the GI Bill. Then, he got a commission and was sent to A&M to study meteorology. My mother “gifted” me with a whole bunch of Aggie stuff. My brother later got a m=Master’s degree from Pepperdine and another one from the Naval Post-Graduate School. He’s been a Meterologist with the National Weather Service since 1993, after being RIFed from the Air Force. My sister, in the meantime, wanted to be an Army nurse and they required a BS in nursing in order to get a commission. So, she went to Texas Women’s U, which was the closest place to offer such a degree. It also, as it turned out, to be one of the top nursing schools in the whole country.
I, on the other hand, started school in California–which, at that time, had the best public schools in the country.
I just hate, hate, hate the fact that my very ordinary family benefitted from the entire public school system in ways that seem unimaginable now. My niece and nephew are benefitting from the forward-thinking public servants of Maryland, even if the cost is a lot higher.
My God.
8@BarbaraDC – I love that your “very ordinary family” benefited from the public school system. It’s not unimaginable now except for people that have no imagination.
I think you probably agree that education is an important gateway to prosperity. More importantly, it mobilizes society, broadens horizons, and informs our experience so that we’re better able to contribute to the common good and to the governance of our Republic. If that’s “Socialism” then Thomas Jefferson and the Founding Fathers were a 1960’s Acid Rock Band.
My point is that people that like to think education isn’t in the public interest are usually dimwitted short-sighted ignorant fools, Rethuglicans, or both. (sigh)
9Wow and isn’t Icky trying to completely change the way the Texas public universities operate? His grades indicate that he isn’t qualified to teach anything, much less earn an advanced degree, but he thinks he’s an expert on, well, just about everything. And we’re supposed to believe his money making land deals were all above board.
10And he thinks he should be leader of the free world because he loves Jesus, fetus Americans, and he’s a Republican?
God help us all!
11Pretty obvious he didn’t take ethics.
12Wow, Rick (I really don’t want to be President, I want to be King) Perry really attended A&M. Just looking at his picture I assumed he had gone to beauty college.
13Didn’t even graduate. Wow.
14How do you only get a C in gym? You get a B if you show up and make an effort.
15They named the stop for A&M “College Station” because if you got off at the nearest town stop (Bryan) you’d get to walk a couple of hours back to the college. (Assuming you had luggage to drag, and were going slowly.) There used to be a lot of empty land in between the two. Story goes, sometimes seniors would run out of money and just get permission to camp in tents on the surrounding pastures. One guy had his own milk cow. This apparently annoyed officials for some reason.
Over time, a town grew up around the college, and then incorporated to keep Bryan from incorporating it. Hence College Station. The two cities used to hate each other, and you could dodge cops by escaping from one to the other, according to legend, anyway.
I know all of this because I lived in the “twin cities” for way too long, and because my great aunt sold her farm to A&M when they were expanding the campus. A&M let her live in the house until she died, and it was still there when I started school in the 90’s. Gone now though.
Animal breeding had math and gain ratios and thinking stuff in it. In the old school gym classes, you met certain physical and attendance measures or you failed. Perry doesn’t like to work hard, and he probably just went just enough to get the hours he needed for the diploma.
My old PI attended college with Perry. Apparently Perry was always an asshole.
16I think we should all just say a little thank you that Rick switched parties. Think about how hard it would be to defend a ‘bean dip dumb’ Democrat (not that it hasn’t ever happened before).
