Texas State Senator Dan Patrick, God, and Your Vagina

.

Texas will now require a woman to have a sonogram prior to an abortion.  Most of it will involve this medical procedure:

You will lie down on a table with your knees bent and feet in holders called stirrups. The health care provider will place a probe, called a transducer, into the vagina. The probe is covered with a condom and a gel. The probe sends out sound waves, which reflect off body structures. A computer receives these waves and uses them to create a picture. The doctor can immediately see the picture on a nearby TV monitor.

You will not be forced to look at the image but you will be forced to listen to a description of it.  Forced.

Republican State Senator Dan Patrick praised God for allowing the State of Texas to insert a probe into your vagina.

Dan Patrick: A Disturbed Man

Sen. Dan Patrick, R-Houston, who has tried to pass the bill in previous sessions, said the timing wasn’t right before, but that God was finally ready for passage.

“This was the time,” he said. Patrick said if only 20 percent of the women viewing the sonograms decide against an abortion, 10,000 to 15,000 lives will be saved each year.

Women can decline to view the sonogram image and hear the fetal heartbeat, but, with some exceptions, they still must hear a description of the image.

Before the bill signing Patrick called it the best bill in the country, and afterward said, “Praise the Lord.”

“The good news is through the blood of Jesus Christ he forgives, and women who have aborted children need to know that message,” Patrick said.

I am a woman of faith.  But, for the life of me, I do not believe that God wants Dan Patrick and power of the State of Texas in my vagina or forcing me to listen to anything.  It shames when other people of faith force women to do anything.  It also shames me that they would want to do something this graphically sexual to a woman.

There is something horribly sick, demented, and terribly disturbing about this.

I think Dan Patrick is the one who needs to ask for forgiveness.  That level of sanctimony makes Sweet Jesus nauseous.  I’m real certain of that.

  1. Probe? I’d like to…. Oh never mind…..

  2. Maybe if they stuck that thing up his hiney they’d find his brain.

This sounds very much like rape by foreign object.
Thank you, Carol Alvarado, for making the House fundies listen to the description of the procedure.

  4. Someday soon Dan Patrick will be arrested for crimes involving insertion and underage males. You can see it in his thin lips and weak chin.

  5. This is Dan Patrick’s fantasy come true. The legislated mechanical rape by the State of Texas of tens of thousands of Texas women. He must be turgid at the very thought of it.

    5
  6. I am so horribly sickened by this…may Dan Patrick rot in hell!

    6
  7. Couple of questions….is Dan or the state paying for this mandated procedure and how long will Dan or the state take care of their new baby?

    7
  8. I will accept this only when all males are required to accept a thorough prostate exam with a verbal description of what is happening!

The legal challenge is already in the works, but it wouldn’t hurt to send $$ anyway.

“AUSTIN, Texas — A national abortion rights group said Friday that it is preparing a legal challenge to Texas’ new abortion sonogram law just signed by Gov. Rick Perry.”

  11. This is indeed sick. The standard ultrasound that is used to check on pregnancies isn’t good enough for this sicko. He insists on a transvaginal ultrasound. He just gets his jollies by forcing a woman to undergo this procedure. Sick!

  12. The first thought comes to mind… freakin’ pigs. Sorry Juanita, this is just plain injustice to all women. I call all women to fight – Ladies, our great-grandmothers and grandmothers, mothers, did not fight for our rights for us to allow this travesty of justice. When and Where are we fighting for our rights in Texas? We need to organize!! We are losing our rights under this so called governor.

    12
  13. I’m too PO’d to even comment. A travesty.

    13
  14. Saying “Praise the Load” every second of his life is not going to save Dan after the evil he has inflicted on the women of Texas. I’m too old to be personally affected by this bill, but I’m damn sure offended and mad about it. He is a dipshyt through and through. Forgive me, Mama.

    14
  15. I’m male and a godless heathen, but this still has me stompin’ mad.

    15
  16. Now let me get this straight; he wants to put what where? Is he married? Does his wife know about this? Is he going to kiss and tell? Sounds like he works for TSA.

Mashing the *Like* button on comments #2, 4, and 9. Actually they are all good, but I particularly like those.

Look at that picture–this guy would need legislation to get a date, much less to get someone to have sex with him.

I need a shower just looking at him. I’d ask you to not post pictures of these skanky sleeze balls, but I do think we need to know what they look like lest we run into them somewhere.

  18. This twit thinks he understands the mind of God? May be in for a rude awakening when he faces judgement.

  19. Here is a question. I want Senator Dan Patrick (& State Rep. Geanie Morrison) to answer.

If it is wrong for liberal Democratic Washington to force citizens to pay for Health Insurance, then shouldn’t it be wrong for Conservative Republican Austin to force women to have sonograms? If socialism is wrong then should FEUDALISM should be as well.

  20. Ellen Childress says:

What ever became of separation of church and state? When did Jesus and “Praise the Lord ” become the spoken word in the legislature of the State of Texas or any other state? There is a saying that a life well lived is the best revenge. Abortion is still legal in the United States. No tax dollar has ever paid for an abortion. The decision is up to a woman and her doctor and her needs determined by her own circumstances. At some point, most women will experience a transvaginal ultrasound if for no other reason than to check for the possibility of cancer. It’s no big deal. And every woman alive knows what a pregnancy is and how the fetus develops.
I am past the age of ever thinking about this particular procedure, but I do think that Dan Patrick would not keep me from an abortion if it was my decision to have one performed. I wouldn’t mind hearing the doctor describe what he or she could see on the ultrasound. If women and doctors go into a tizzy over Patrick’s bill, he wins. If women in his district allow him to serve another term, he wins. If women in the state of Texas allow Rick Perry to serve another term, Patrick wins again.
I was one of the women who marched for women’s rights and advocated for the abortion rights that Mr. Patrick takes so lightly today. We need to remind him that he has won nothing except possibly the contempt of the women of Texas. I would hate to think that it will be my generation that will march again to save the abortion rights that we struggled so hard to win years ago for our daughters and granddaughters.

  21. Can’t this be argued as a Civil Rights violation? It violates the right to privacy, it violates equal treatment based on gender, and it violates, period. This is insane. O_O

  22. Kay in PA says:

    Nothing but legalized rape!!

    22
  23. Edith Ann says:

But Gov. Icky said this is necessary so that women can make an informed decision.

I am so filled with gratitude that those big, strong, manly men are looking out for the fairer and less intelligent sex. Lord! What would we do without them to see to our every need!

My greatest fear? That the last full-serve gas station in Victoria is going to become self-serve and I’m going to have to figure out how to put gas in the Dodge!

    23
  24. Why aren’t women fighting to protect their freedoms?
It is not too far reaching to think that they will next go after the pill and other birth control!

    24
  25. OldMayfly says:

Not at all too far reaching–the Right-Wing has been after birth control all along. That’s why they push those “conscience” laws.

Your pharmacist isn’t comfortable with birth control so, “No birth control for you!”

What about that right-winger who refused to fill a prescription for a medication that controls bleeding–because he suspected that the woman who needed it “might” have had an abortion?

The Handmaid’s Tale is just around the corner.

    25
  26. How do they perform an abortion? Via a vacumn/knife thing that goes up the vagina. Good grief lady!

    26
  27. Juanita Jean says:

Pat, Sugar, that is a choice I freely make. Dan Patrick’s is the damn law.

    And who you callin’ lady?

    27
  28. Sure sounds like rape to me.

    28
  29. Who are the friggin’ idiots that vote for this poor excuse of a human being?????

    Pat?????

    29
  30. IOW: in Texas you can still get an abortion (if you can find full service women’s health care provider) but first, the state gets to rape you.

Oh, such courtly white gentlemen there are in charge of us impulsive and slow witted females.

Thinking you all need to get some sort of voter initiative going requiring that any man who wants to come between a woman and her health care decisions has to spend some time being probed at both ends.

    30
  31. Suzy Allison says:

This is to make sure you have an accurate idea of what you’re doing. And is brought to you by the same people who fiercely resist efforts to ensure that sex education in the schools is medically accurate. And feel violated by a pat-down at the airport. Very strange people.

    31
  32. If men want a prescription for their little blue ‘upper’ pill then they should be required to undergo the same kind of procedure and I suggest we start with this Patrick floozie and his bunkmate Rush Limphaugh. Their procedure would include a penis probe of about the same length as the thing used on women. They should also have to tell their employer if they are using Viagra, Cialis, etc.
