I’m Sorry, Momma

April 30, 2011 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

.

As most of you know by now, my Momma doesn’t take to cussin’.  She just flat doesn’t allow it.  And since she comes to my website every single day, we have a rule around here that you cannot cuss.

I’m breakin’ that rule.  I know I will suffer the consequences.  Momma is 85 years old but she remains the most determined woman on the planet to clean this place up.

I hate to add to the mess, but Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott is a sumbitch.

There is just no other word to describe him.

There is a man named Anthony Graves, who spent 18 years behind bars, 12 of them on death row, for a crime that prosecutors now say he didn’t do.

After he was freed in October, the Texas comptroller’s office refused the compensation provided by law for those who are unjustly convicted.

Then the Texas Attorney General’s Office began garnisheeing his wages for child support that a judge decided Graves owed even though he was on death row at the time. But when they blocked payment of the $250 fee he earned for a presentation to students at Prairie View A&M University, it was too much.

“If you feel I owe some compensation, fine, I’m not crying about that, but don’t go after everything I make,” said Graves, 45. “I’m tired of the state kicking me.”

The Attorney General’s Office is garnisheeing $175 of the $3,000 monthly salary he earns as an investigator for Texas Defenders Service, an organization that represents death penalty defendants.

Jeff Blackburn, a lawyer for Graves, said that the Texas Comptroller refused to pay Graves $80,000 as provided by law for each year he was unjustly in person.  Graves appealed the comptroller decision and Attorney General Greg Abbott is peeved about that.

So, he’s taking it out on Graves by being a sumbitch, something he’s very good at.

Anthony Graves will beat the rap, but he won’t beat the ride, all because Greg Abbott is a sumbitch.

Thanks Sam for the heads up.

It’s Yachtville, Texas.  I have no idea how the people in Lubbock or Amarillo are going to recover from tough times.

House Committee Approves Tax Break for Yachts

Villarreal Criticizes Move as Legislature Cuts Education and Nursing Homes

Austin – Today Rep. Mike Villarreal (D-San Antonio) strongly criticized the House Ways and Means Committee for approving a tax break for yachts at the same time that the Legislature is proposing drastic cuts to education, nursing homes, and other basic services. Yesterday the Committee, of which Rep. Villarreal is a member, approved HB 2187 by Rep. John Davis (R-Houston).

“With all due respect, sometimes I’m not sure what planet my Republican colleagues live on,” said the flabbergasted Representative. “How can they say tax breaks for yachts are a higher priority than supporting our children’s classrooms or keeping nursing homes open?”

And no damn whining from you people on the coast.  I went to Galveston at Easter and dropped a hunk o’ money at Gaidos and on The Strand.  Besides, Tilman Fertitta is spending the same amount of  money in Kemeh and Galveston that it would cost to wallpaper Italy.

Big Buddy’s Cut-rate Yacht Warehouse in Odessa is doing just as good this year as he did last year.  But, West Texas is burnt crispy.  I ain’t concerned about people with too much water on the Texas coast right now.  Don’t irritate me.

God Bless Bernie Sanders

High oil prices are being brought to you by those same friendly folks who brought you the Wall Street meltdown.

Lookie here —-

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) demanded on Thursday that regulators impose limits on oil speculation to help lower the price of gas in a letter sent to President Obama.

“There is mounting evidence that the skyrocketing price of gas and oil has nothing to do with the fundamentals of supply and demand, and has everything to do with Wall Street firms that are artificially jacking up the price of oil in the energy futures markets,” Sanders wrote. “In other words, the same Wall Street speculators that caused the worst financial crisis since the 1930s through their greed, recklessness, and illegal behavior are ripping off the American people again by gambling that the price of oil and gas will continue to go up.”

It’s a damn crap shoot, but you’re fronting the money for both sides and none of the winnings come back to you.

Rick Perry Gets Feelings Hurt

“He is such a little weenie,” Juanita exclaims while reading something on the internet machine.

Since that could be a plethora of men Juanita has a strong disliking to, we ask who.  She begin to read aloud —

Perry [is] now complaining that Obama is showing a preference to Alabama and other storm-stricken states, while denying Texas approval of a recent wild-fire-related Major Disaster declaration.

Perry, who has been a constant critic of states taking federal aid money, and who at one point argued that Texas might opt to secede from the Union (again), if matters did not change in Washington DC to suit him, has nevertheless expected and received billions of dollars in federal taxpayer money to help his state.

“Rick Perry whines when the federal government gives disaster money.  He whines when he doesn’t get some.  He whines when President Obama does come to Texas.  He whines when President Obama doesn’t come to Texas.  Dammit, every time he opens his mouth, all I hear is the sound of a spoon pounding on a high chair tray,” Juanita admits.

“Rick, don’t make me pull over to the side of the road.  Your brother did not get a bigger piece than you did.”

“Cheezzzzzz … somebody spank him.”
