Proud of Texas /
Ashamed of Rick Perry
You, too, can have this genuine tee-shirt that says “Proud of Texas / Ashamed of Rick Perry” for a donation of only twenty ($20) dollars American money to Fort Bend Democrats Club. Darlin’, we’ll even mail it right to your house for free and you cannot walk away from a deal like that. You’d be a fool to. We might even take some extra effort to get your size right. Oh hell, we’ll even guarantee that because that’s just the kind of Americans we are!
Click right here to make your donation and then send me an email (susan@brazosriver.com) letting me know where to send this swanky shirt and what size you want. I’ll get it in the mail pretty damn soon.
ONLY SIZES SMALL, MEDIUM, and LARGE ARE LEFT. Once those are sold, we’ll order more.
Where can I get a copy of the man singing Vote Republican?
1Anybody know?
2In response to the shame you feel torward Rick Perry, I thought it worth sharing a few of many points that you overlook. There is no other state that you can point to with a better job market. Not one.
California, the mecca of progressivism, is collapsing. Otherwise, exactly what state would you hold as a model for TX?? Legalzoom.com is moving from CA to TX, acccording to the Austin Bus Journal taking 600 jobs from the Golden state with the intent hire 1000 in Austin. Texas no longer has to offer incentives to companies in CA to pursue their move to the Lone Star State, according to the Austin Bus Journal.
The business climate here enables companies to compete and grow. In Youngstown OH, in 1983 there were 30,000 student in the public schools. Today there are 6,000. the city–and the state have been collapsing. The migration to business-friendly states is obvious. People view jobs as an essential amenity that they desire. You seem to give Perry no credit whatsoever in creating a climate in which people can stay in their own homes. Unless you consider a high foreclosure rate a good thing.
If you’d like to debate Texas and Gov Perry further, I’m eager to do so. He has his warts, but I encourage you to tell me what state would you rather live and work.
Regards,
3mc
A respectable Republican (such as yours truly) would be happy to wear a shirt like that without making out a check to the Democrats, don’t you think?
4Sorry, Patrick, that’s who is selling them. Leave the dark side!
5mc should take a closer look at the facts before repeating the same old tired Faux News drivel:
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2011/mar/10/california-vs-texas-which-has-best-economy/
A pertinent quote from the article:
“But a closer look at the two economies shows that in a number of ways, California has been performing better than Texas, ranging from long-term economic growth to venture capital investments. And a study last week by UCLA’s Anderson Forecast said that what separated the two states during the Great Recession was not their business climates but their mix of businesses.”
All the best (from a born in Texas, now living in Nevada, used to live in California “socialist”),
Dave
6Expand this clever t-shirt now, Juanita Jean! I’m thinking towels or hankies that can be used to wipe the slime off the telly and/or blow your nose. I’ll buy a dozen right off the bat. Public Service and a viable retirement plan, all in one swoop?
7This mistake that gets continued over and over comes from poor and inaccurate word usage. It is NOT about jobs. A job is what kids get after school to buy a new set of cleats or a baseball glove. A job is what high-school kids get to pay for gas money and help out with the insurance so they can drive dads car on date night. There are plenty jobs out there so this is not about JOBS!!!! This is about gainful employ! Working for a living wage that pays the bills and affords families the security of a house to live in and transportation to work and school. There has been a stampede by the conservatives to destroy gainful employ and turn them all into jobs. It takes several jobs to make up for just one lost position that used to be gainful employment. Time to call them out on the truth and not allow the issues to be redefined into terms fit for simple minded followers.
8MC is just another republicrap/tea bagger who is not capable of researching the FACTS about Ricky ‘the Weasel’ Perry. I have to apologize to weasels for the insult on their species.
99% of what Ricky “the Weasel” Perry says is either 1/2 truth or FLAT OUT LIES!
FACTS ARE: He has DOUBLED our taxes yet REDUCED the quality of our EDUCATION SYSTEM,
allowed ILLEGAL immigrants to attend college @ in state rates, though it is ILLEGAL FOR THEM TO BE HERE OR TO HIRE THEM,
INCREASED the size of state government while attacking PRESIDENT OBAMA FOR DOING THE SAME,
took $18 BILLION in FEDERAL $ while bitching about federal bail outs, then used the $ to balance the budget,
ORDERED every girl in Texas to be injected with a drug with unknown, future side effects while bitching about government interference,
created low paying, service jobs while thousands of good paying high tech & construction jobs were lost
He also is good at math. After all, 1/2 of 0 is 0 as he pointed out so eloquently.
9Another Perry oversight…
10Children are Hungry – According to a report published by the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas, the state of Texas ranks number one among the other 50 states in terms of percentage of hungry families. One in every four children in Texas is hungry. In Central Texas alone, more than 41,000 children (under the age of 18) face food insecurity every day.
Balancing a buget on the backs of young children… how very Perry.
thank you juanita jean, i wish that mr. perry would come to your shop for a hair cut, and that you could write (cut in) “don’t vote 4 me”, on the back of his head. LOVE YOUR T-SHIRT!!!! yea for you, for having the balls to do it. i hope that it gives your business a huge gain. rick perry, go get a hair cut. thank you juanita, susan plantowsky
11Juanitajean, you are a grand lady and I am a fan of you and your wonderful webb site, and will continue to be. Devotedly, Richard J. Berryman, dedicated California progressive, retired old man, and hell raiser!
12I am proud to be a Texan. I am also proud that when we elect an idiot like Perry, it’s good to know that he is like the king in chess. He is a figurehead and has no power. The Lt. Governor is wear the real power lies. Among other things, education and mental health care in this state is a joke, as I know first hand. Rick Perry is as crooked as a python who has feasted on mice.
13I’d love to get one for my Texas daughter, but I’m sure she’d be afraid to wear it in public or around her ultra-conservative Texan husband. There are a lot of great open-minded Texans, but she is surrounded by RWNJ’s who love to hate on brown people, black people and gays – not to mention not very religious New England Yankees, which is what sne is! Good Luck with Tees, and Kudosto those commenters here for dispelling the myth of the Texas Miracle economy!
14Led here by one of the whack-jobs at wonkette.com. Happy to make your acquaintance, Miss Juanita Jean! Not much makes me grin these days, but you did and your T-shirt is pretty special, too. Thanks for sending Gov. Oops out on tour so we could see up-close and personal what you’re dealing with. But we’ve had our laughs and you can keep him down on the ranch now.
Also, kudos to Clayton (above) for his eloquent explication of the difference between a “job” and a career position. He sounds dangerously like a pinko-commie-union-thug to me — my kinda guy. I will be quoting him on an elitist libtard message board in the near future.
Cheers, new friend!

PS: Do you think you could find it in your heart to keep Perry’s pal Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Texas? We’d just as soon he not come back here and you have more space.
15If you can have one made in a size 2XL, you’ve got an instant sale!
Actually, I posted this to Facebook and to my own political email list, and there are several people who want one.
Now, being that several of us are Texans, which means we eat a lot of barbecue; and with that we also eat a lot of potato salad — we’re not exactly sweet little ootzies and a “large” size might fit around our thigh – several XL, 2XL and even (dare I say it? yes, I *must* say it!) 3XLs would be most greatly appreciated!
16Marq – all those sizes sold out first. I learned my lesson.
17I just got here – instantly fell in love with the site, and with you, Juanita Jean! I’m sending “buy T-shirt” vibes to all the tiny people in Texas so you can get the larger T-shirt sizes soon! (Marq’s right, but it’s not just bbq and potato salad, it’s the Tex-Mex, too.)
18Love it! Way up here in northeast Texas we could use a few of those T-shirts. Will pass along the news. Love your site, keep up the fantastic work!!
