And Would That Include Tom DeLay?

“You know,” Delay said, “there is an argument to be made that these extensions, the unemployment benefits keeps people from going and finding jobs. In fact there are some studies that have been done that show people stay on unemployment compensation and they don’t look for a job until two or three weeks before they know the benefits are going to run out.

Host Candy Crowley: Congressman, that’s a hard sell, isn’t it?

Delay: it’s the truth.

Crowley: People are unemployed because they want to be?

Delay: well, it is the truth. and people in the real world know it. And they have friends and they know it. Sure, we ought to be helping people that are unemployed find a job, but we also have budget considerations that are incredibly important, especially now that Obama is spending monies that we don’t have.

Best I know, Tom DeLay hasn’t  had a job in 5 years.  He hasn’t had honest work since Elvis died.

    Juanita,

Below is the statement I sent to Candy Crowley’s blog after taking Hal’s advice and reading the interview she posted. To say I was ticked off more than Grandpa was when my cousin blew up his still with some fireworks one 4th. of July is putting it mildly. I was surprised when she printed it but I felt a whole lot better.

    Ms. Crowley,

You were one of my favorite reporters on CNN until today. You and Jack (Situation Room) never chose a political side but fairly portrayed both sides until today.

You allowed that criminal, adulterer, father of a illegitimate child (which he tried to pass off as his Foster child), and blackmailer (His way not to support a member unless they followed what HE ,Tom The Hammer wanted) public access.

I live in CD 22 and worked to get rid of him since 2004. I even drove a Political float of a 12 foot high Uncle Sam spanking Delay to band music at full volume over the speakers for 3 months. We finally got rid of the crook to the cheers of hundreds.

You treated that man like whatever his opinion was about the State of the Union was important to us. After he finally goes to jail for all the rotten things he did during his time in office to this Nation and to Texas, THEN and only then will I consider anything he says to be honest and have any credence to the economy of this Country.

Someone much cleverer than I recently commented that recessions are caused by an uncommonly large number of people who simultaneously decide that it is better to get a few hundred dollars a week for not working than to get your full salary for continuing to work. So they contrive to be laid off and don’t go back to work until their unemployment compensation runs out. After they resume paid employment, they’re just counting the days until they can qualify for the full term of unemployment again at which time they all get themselves laid off causing another recession.

I am still baffled by the fact that the DeLay case is stalled in court. What is the current status of his case? Why is this guy not in jail?

What? Elvis died? Who’s next, Michael Jackson?

Dave, I have changed my opinion on that issue. I am having much more fun watching the man whore himself out than I would have seeing him locked behind bars.

Tommy should have stayed in the bug business. It was so appropriate for him.
